Hi All,
This may have been discussed but when I turn on the cabin heat before I get into the truck and then when I get in, the truck will turn off the auto function if I don't do it first.
Then when I look at the vents the 4 vents in the dash are toggled off, this never used to happen prior to the 46.0 update...
Am I missing something, I know the Auto setting will turn off selected vents to Auto heat the cabin but I never had to turn the vents back on after I turned off the Auto setting, it's just really annoying, almost as annoying as the truck going back to what ever setting I had on the previous drive...
I really don't need my vehicle to think for me that much, anybody else have this happen all the time with the vents shut off by the climate control?
TIA!

I have similar issues with my R1T. It doesn’t seem to remember my settings. It seems to default to the floor and windshield heat, with all the vents turned off. At least its not turning on the steering wheel and seat. Got a mind of its own. I believe this did start around the time of the last software update.

I know it’s hard to believe, but I feel like this issue has actually gotten better since the beginning :CWL:

But, yes, Rivian HVAC has a mind of its own. Vents are not pointed where you left them or turned off. The auto temp number feels totally different from one day to the next… It’s an adventure vehicle😎

I was annoyed by this so I looked into it. It’s not a bug and it’s not new (mine did it before the latest update).
When the cabin is set to “auto” it doesn’t use vents, it uses the floor.

I find the HVAC software flaky. I’ve got in my R1T on a hot day and had my it turn the heat on. I’ve had it visually show heat on one side and cooling on the other. Can’t verify remembering vents since I haven’t focused on that, but could have done that too.

I definitely think something changed for the worse here as the OP says. Our vents were set months ago to our preference for winter and we never needed to mess with them. Since 2025.46.0 every time we start the car, they are off, and seem to be randomly configured. The presets for volume and direction don't seem to be right when we use them to restore our preference either.

I haven't noticed anything changing on its own at all. I have mine on auto at all times and move the temp +/- 1 on occasion. And remote start the HVAC on about 50% of drives.

Same experience here. Gradual improvement since new in 2022, then with the latest update the dash vents are all shut off every day.
