For any Gen2 or I guess any owners since they stopped including them (LE?), it’s available for $400 now.

Debating if I need one or I just steal the one from my wife’s R1S and give her my drawer whenever I camp.

Wonder if they changed it at all?

Maybe there will be a firmware update at some point.

The speaker is flawed and should not be purchased in my opinion, unless they have actually fixed a number of issues, including:
- connecting to bluetooth
- turning off with button press
- turning on with button press
- charging in the vehicle
- having any kind of indicator of status, charge, wellbeing?

Basically all the regular interactivity that you would expect from modern electronics are lacking on this (otherwise) beautiful-looking vehicle-integrated device.

Also, sometimes it randomly works fine, which keeps you unsure if it's really YOU with the problems. Then you use a normal Bluetooth speaker without any frustration...

Not unlike some relationships I can think of, now that I type this out!

Take care!

I'm with Yota on this one. It is way over complicated for what it is... a Bluetooth speaker. I've probably used it three times total in 1-1/2 years and happened to use it yesterday, because I was detailing the interior. I pulled it out and then spent the next 5 minutes trying to figure out whether it was on, paired to my phone or broken. Eventually I disconnected my phone from the vehicle and it started to work. Why not an On/Off, volume buttons and pair button... like every other speaker? Hell, every Crack head in Los Angeles can figure out how to use a Bluetooth speaker at full blast, but probably not the rivian speaker.

If you can buy a used one for half price, then it would be worth it to me... but at $400, younhavemso many better choices.

lol yeah, we just got the one with our used R1S and I have to agree, the sound quality is great and it seems built like a tank, but the interface was designed by an actual space alien.

It might sound good when there's nothing to compare it against, but try it side by side next to the much smaller and almost $300 less expensive ($129 on Amazon including a carry case) JBL Charge 5 and you'll see what a ripoff the Rivian speaker is at $400.

I have a love / hate relationship with my camp speaker. It's a nice accessory to have which also works as a battery bank and has a lantern.

When we needed a camp speaker at an event, It was worth every penny to me.

I will say this, when I get annoyed of it because of the things you mentioned, I am happy that I can swap out the camp speaker for the camp drawer from Rivian / aftermarket.

Edit: I also use it at home when It's not in my car so it doesn't just sit around collecting dust.

I don’t go to public campgrounds, to clarify. I live in the middle of nowhere.

I love everything about my truck but the camp speaker is objectively terrible. I can’t connect to it when I want to and it’s always connecting to my phone when I don’t want it to. The physical buttons don’t work most of the time, the sound quality isn’t anything special and the battery in mine died after a year. Got it replaced under warranty and the replacement is just as bad. I wouldn’t pay $50 for one…
