Hey now, he's sharing legitimate concerns and comparisons with the delivery process. I know it's easy to just tell people it will all work out. But Rivian needs to give people accurate, timely info, and maybe even hold my hand if I'm dropping close to six digits. You know why? Because it's practice for when the 2nd tier EV buyers come to purchase. The early adopters don't mind the fly by the seat of your pants chaos that can be the Rivian purchase process.
Amen. Thank you. I only wish the best to all future R1 owners and hope the first hand info helps with expectations. They are very expensive vehicles; coupled with high interest rates it didn’t work out for me. Writing on the wall tells me things will change for the better get for the (EV) consumer.

Rivian does do leasing and there is alao
Zero perfect chance your MF is close to zero APR.
Leasing is only offered in certain states on the R1T only. I can forward you this direct from Rivian.
As far as my APR, not your problem. But I’ll you this - Audi/VW can do whatever the F they want. Matter of fact, any major automaker can do that if they so choose. Do your homework Ngkgb.

The way they wrote the contract was complicated to say the least. I basically multiplied the monthly payments and subtracted from residual. The difference was less than $1k. So I could be wrong, or they deducted interest points with my down payment. It was a late deal and I had a headache.

the e-Tron is nice, but it’s just not an R1S. The R1 is better is so many ways, just had to keep the payment below a certain threshold to keep the wife happy. Enjoy.

Wow. Some of us here have been waiting for years for the R1S and this guy waits a few months and complains. Talk about not seeing the forest from the trees.
Reading comprehension 101. Not one complaint in what I stated, just a simple timeline. You seemed to have missed that lol. The easiest way to present a series of facts and share information. It gives future R1S buyers an idea where the climate stands right now.
I grabbed an R1T of the shop in October and went through all the hoops multiple times so completely understand. I was inches away from walking away on the 5th time submitting insurance through USAA. Rivian finally agreed the insurance card and email it came on was fine the 5th time I did it together in the same upload (separate files were not ok for some reason).

Funny thing was once that stupidity was over, delivery and service to take care of some delivery issues was almost comically easy.

Love the vehicle but the 5-6 weeks of back and forth on paperwork almost daily gets no recommendation from me.
Sounds like the wait was totally worth it. You got what you wanted and executed. Had I known about others experiences of multiple weeks of paperwork, the outcome may have been different. But the biggest issue for me was APR. Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m sure others will appreciate it.

That's an interesting reply to a jocular comment. It kinda reads, "You'd better respect me or I else I won't show up when you call."

I have some experience with first responding so I know that's not what you meant or else you wouldn't be doing the job.

In all seriousness, now I know you had a really rough week at work, and I'm truly sorry about that.

Whoa there, take it easy folks. OP has legitimate concerns, aint like we haven’t heard them or experienced them before. Same due respect for his profession, which many of us will rely upon for help and few of us could perform..

@Night_Ryder, hope you enjoy the Q8 Etron and eventually find your way back to an R1S. I’ve had many Audis and enjoyed them all.

My buying experience was just as bad; guide was worthless. They lost a 37K cashiers check and finally found it the day of pickup. They need to do better. Trying to flush a bunch of cars out the door at the end of year did not help. R1S is great, but my Telluride had some nice features I miss. Like where the hell is hands free tail gate lift or the rear left and right view when you turn your directional signal on?

I do appreciate first responders. Before I met my wonderful wife I dated a volunteer EMT. I also have a friend who is a paramedic and yet another who flew a medivac for years. Totally appreciate and am thankful for what you do and the stress of what you encounter on the daily.

I think the bottom line is it didn't work out for you and Audi got your business. Rivian could always use feedback to improve their process.
