Car wash foam cannon recommendations

Im looking for any recommendations on soap for my foam cannon. I have been using a giraffe tools power washer with de-ionizing water filter with fantastic results, I dont even have to towel dry. Im just looking for a better soap the with really make a thick layer and remove dirt without hand scrubbing.

I use chemical guys soap and their foam cannon. Just get the ratio right so you get thick suds and I let it stay on for 3-4 minutes to help pull / lift the dirt off

I do one foam cannon wash and rinse and if it’s really bad I will do another foam cannon and follow up with hand mitt.

I second the chemical guys recommendation! I put in 4oz of maxi suds II in my foam cannon for each wash. I don't have the deionizer but I do have water treatment on my home which balances the PH and removes hardness from the water. If I have to wash in the sun I just make sure I keep the whole truck wet (may be hard in some location like CA, AZ, etc). Once I rinse I quickly blow it dry.

I like the grape scent but they also have cherry as well. It has great gloss enhancers and a gallon of it lasts for a while.

I have all the detailing supplies I use on my Amazon store. I am pretty OCD when it comes to detailing for sure.

This post led me to Adams polishes. I thought the analysis was well done. A friend likes the products and his car looks amazing. I will be applying the ceramic graphene next weekend.

I was using CARPRO reset before getting a foam cannon as my installer highly recommended it after I got the R1S ceramic coated. I was blown away by how well it worked in the foam cannon. Like I was meh on the suds before hand, but it performed excellent with my cannon.

I highly recommend the de-ionizer, I have water filtration on the house as well, but this removes all minerals not just scale. So the you dont have to towel dry, there are zero water spots on the car.

You have a really nice setup! Well done.

I use a CRSpotless ionizer system on wheels. Pain in the butt to move around. It’s very effective but the water in Phoenix is very hard. The cartridge resin unfortunately doesn’t last that long. Regardless, it’s a must have for me.

From browsing the auto detailing sub at Reddit, a lot of folks there really dislike Chemical Guys stuff. Not exactly sure why, but I’ve read a lot of negative comments over there. I’ve used a few Chemical Guys products and have had no complaints personally.

I think I read (again on Reddit for whatever that’s worth) that the MJJC is the gold standard of foam cannons. It’s pretty expensive. I’m guessing there are many other more affordable options that will do a fine job.

I use the MTM Hydro PF22.2 Wide Mouth Foam Cannon with the Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Auto Wash for Satin Finish since I have stealth PPF + ceramic coating installed.

The only complaint I have about CG is the sprayers are junk. Otherwise I have been very happy with their products.

I especially like the air freshener, ceramic interior spray, and the maxi suds wash. I also use Griots products as well.

Yeah the deionizer are good.

MTM 22.2 with Carpro Reset here for the win. Only 2 oz of reset and I can foam the car 2 - 3 times on one fill.

Check out Obsessed Garage. I used to use MTM, and it is still a great option, but the Griot's Garage foam cannon is now king of the hill (in my opinion). Pair it with some Koch-Chemie Gsf, and I think you'll be pleased.

I may need to add DI to my pressure washer too. Towel drying the R1S is very time consuming and another source of possible scratching too if you're not perfect with your washing. (and who really is 100% perfect)

To answer the post: I also use the Griot's Garage foam cannon. I didn't really want to buy something I may not like, and just went with that one despite the fairly high price point. I've been happy with it. I'm sure if I add DI water, my car washing experience will level up substantially.

MTM Canon 22.2 is great used with Chemical Guys Snow soap (green) to get more foam. The issue you may have is that this Girafe pressure washer (like other retail stores washers) are using very small nozzle opening to bring psi up as their pump can’t push enough gallon per minute. You need more water flow and less psi: 2 GPM with 1,000 psi with a 4.0 nozzle is way better than 1 GPM with 3,000 psi with smaller nozzles. Even worst, too much psi will damage your paint. Go see Obsessed Garage You Tube channel to learn the basics.
