There seems to be an issue with car wash mode being on, I think right after the vehicle goes to sleep. I was hand washing my truck, car wash mode enabled, phone on a shelf maybe 10 feet away. Not far enough to trigger any lock/unlock, so nothing should have been changing... However, after a few minutes (I'm thinking after truck went to sleep), the charge port door would open when the sensor was hit with water, AND YET, I could not get it to close again when touching the sensor. Truck doors were staying unlocked, and door handles were not protruding, and therefore telling me car wash mode still enabled. However, when I open the door it immediately shows car wash mode off...

I'm thinking that car wash mode is on, truck sleeps, and because it's still unlocked, the charge door sensor wouldn't be disallowed and touching it is enough to wake it up again and it realizes that the sensor should be disabled (because car wash mode), but then reopening the door itself cancels car wash mode. THEN it allows me to close the charge door by touch, and reenable car wash mode. Had to do this 5 times until I decided to leave that whole corner for last.

Sorry for the run-on sentences. Anyone else seeing this?

I've seen the same thing - charging port opens when hand washing (phone in pocket), even while the handles are still recessed. Happened to me two washes in a row.

If I put it in Car Wash mode and then lock it, I don't see the same issue. I wonder if Car Wash mode is really intended for an occupied wash (e.g. driver in vehicle), not a self wash?

This is going on with my truck too. Last wash was done by a detailer so my phone was about 30 ft away and the chargeport would open with water runoff.

I mean I guess it never occurred to me to just lock the truck and put the phone on the same shelf. I'm so used to the truck lock/unlock cycling...

Still, car wash mode until brake or and change drive direction just kinda makes sense. IDK...

Yeah, I agree - I certainly expected car wash mode to work.

I turned off prox unlock once they fixed my key fob, I got tired of the lock/unlock cycling every time I hang out near the truck for a while. Don't really miss it at much as I thought I would.

(I wish there was a "lock only" version of the proximity. I like the "walk away" security but don't want it unlocking on approach.)

Yes, this same thing has happened to me the last 2 times I have washed. My phone is stationary, 20-30 ft. away while this happens. I will have to try the lock trick and see if that helps on the next wash.

I do my washes my self and just figured I take too long to wash the car. Seems like it comes out of car wash mode after like 15m or so when I do it i just open the truck and hit the carwash button again and im good. Well I had to do it like three times when I washed it last weekend.

Side note its really nice to set ride height to full to wash out the salt from the suspension and wheel wells. then drop it so i can reach the roof.

Ha I mean if all I was supposed to do was lock the truck when I wash it, then I guess car wash mode is only for auto car washes? Confused I guess, haha, but not mad. :p

I just throw away (Close) the app when I don't need the truck unlocked.

I experienced the same issue last weekend when washing. I did have my phone in my pocket. About 10 minutes or so after I started washing, I noticed the charge port door opened when I was spraying that area with water. After I closed it though, it didn't open again while I finished. Once I got back in the truck to clean the inside I noticed car wash mode was off. So it must have reset after a sleep cycle or something.

I asked service about this door issues some months back, issue happens with or without car wash mode. Service advisor went to ask detailing crew how they keep this from happening while washing vehicles for delivery? Response was every vehicle washed seems to open the door when being washed. Rivian is aware and a bug fix has not been released to date. The odd part is I have never had it open in a tunnel wash, but it opens at every do it yourself wash which I can only attribute to vehicle detecting movement.

JFYI -- To get around this bug I put the truck in camp "stay on" mode -- then enable car wash mode. That seems to work at least 70% of the time for me.

Just gotta remember to come back and turn off "stay on" mode once you're done.
