May be user error but had a strange sequence of events with 26 gen2 r1t

Put truck in car wash mode but not neutral as I was washing in driveway - wasn't there a manual wash option before?
Wash truck, then manual press on handle would not open door. Went to app, saw in car wash mode, unlocked door
Turned off car wash mode on console, then into drive, this is where things went south.
Turtle mode, power steering, sensor errors - full reboot via console and all errors went away.

Cause for concern? Should I call service or do people just move on given all clear now?

Do not know cause and no one can diagnose without having same visibility Rivian does. FYI, neutral after car wash mode is only needed if you are using automatic washes that pull the vehicle through. And in car wash mode you should be able to manually pivot the handle outward by pushing on the forward part of handle; the divot.

Submit service ticket for issue, including request to check health of 12V battery, along with any applicable recalls & TSBs.

The full reboot you did would have captured a datalog. Let them know about that.

So! 2 years ago i backed into a tree going almost 0mph. I cracked the rear taillight and dented the rear quarter panel. Week goes by and i almost stopped raking myself over the coals. I decided to wash my truck. (I can count the amt of times Ive washed my personal vehicle on one hand). 12 hours later Im heading a meeting and I get the turtle crawl alert and xmas tree warning lights. I call rivian, they send a flatbed. They take it to the service center; who was going to fix the original damage. Its a Friday. It sits in their lot till monday. Monday morning i get a call, All warnings are gone. Drives normally. The theory: the dent and cracked taillight let some water in; causing a temp short. It dried out by Monday and thats why the errors went away.

Maybe gen 1 is different, that's what I have. Pretty sure there's only ever been one single wash mode. You go to wash mode, then IF you are in a tunnel, you ALSO hit neutral. My doors stay unlocked, but with the flapper thing closed. Press the front, so the rear pops out, and open the door. I've done this a lot. I've never turned off car wash mode, just go into drive and leave.

Anyway, I wouldn't be concerned about needing the reboot unless it happens again.

I do two things any time I get alerts or warnings from our '23 R1S:
  • I take a picture of the message and or warning icons - This primarily gives me a pretty precise date/time stamp of when it happened
  • I hold down the Hazard button until I get the "Vehicle Diagnostics Captured" message
I've had more than my share of "Coming to an emergency stop - pull over in a safe place" messages (I'll pick it up from the SC tomorrow hoping that it's fixed for good), and the SC told me that the best thing for the tech is the date/time stamp so they can look at the history and see what happened.
