Good evening all.

I just got my carpool sticker and there are 4. The two large ones are supposed to go on the back and the small ones on the front. i didnt remember my tesla having 4 though so looked, and it only had three. There were two large ones, one on each side of the rear and a small one on the back.

1). Has anyone had any experience with having less than the 4 on without getting any undue attention from the police?

2). Does anyone have any good suggestions for placement on the R1T?

I only had 3 on my Tesla back in 2016 never had an issue.

My suggestion is get some vinyl and cut it to the size of the stickers, put the stickers on the vinyl then put them on the truck. Otherwise once they expire they are very difficult to remove. That is what I did based on a suggestion of a friend who could not get them off his car. Was happy I did.

Use PPF. The stickers are impossible to remove once they expire. I wish CA would allow window placement instead.

ok dumb question... is the back part where you peel the ppf from where the adhesive is? I have the ppf for carpool stickers from twraps and they say to put adhesive side down but not what side is adhesive.

Yes sticky side of the carpool sticker on the front of the PPF and then sticky side of the PPF to the vehicle. Trim the excess around so it does not look like there is PPF behind it and no one will try to steal them.

Anyone with pictures of placement? I have mine ready to go. I put the stickers on PPF, the truck is washed and I am ready to start sticking. I will probably do it in the morning when there is light.

What i PPF?
correct. paint protections film... you can buy sheets or some places actually sell sets designed specifically for the carpool stickers. That way when they expire, the thought is you can remove them without harming the paint.

True statement.

When I removed the Red sticker this January, it took less than 5 minutes to remove all 4 stickers without any adhesive or mess left on the vehicle.

I had originally bought a small roll of Xpel film from Amazon (less than $10) and cut it in the shape of the sticker + 1/8" of overlap. I then stuck the sticker onto the film, then onto the vehicle. When removing, the extra 1/8" allowed for easy pull back corner then simply pull the sticker off.

If will do the same when my R1S is ever delivered. Though Its my understanding that CA is supposed to get rid of the whole thing in 2024 or 2025. There are simply too many EVs and PHEV on the road. Besides, all the HOVs are becoming tollways so that may happen before my Rivian appears :(

a little off topic, but can you reapply to get the updated sticker? I have red on my tesla and didnt even realize it has expired. Can I reapply to get the yellow now that red has expired?

No, they are limited time benefits when you first get the car. You can only apply once per vehicle.

@SANZC02 is right. Unfortunately, no extension or 2nd time.

You have to buy/lease another qualifying vehicle.

Question has anyone used PPF - paint protection film - on any other part of their Rivian? I plan to use for the CA HOV sticker (been waiting for 4 months for DMV too send), but wonder if it works on window decals/stickers, as well as protection other areas like headlights. Thoughts?
