Hi All
I am hoping there is a work around Im not aware of....while staying for 3 days at an Inn that has the same (not Rivian) charger I have at home i was able to charge as normal one night and then the next two i kept getting "no cloud connection" errors and not able to charge. The internet at that location is spotty unless you are in the Main Lodge. I tried to use the R1T Hotspot and no luck. I let it sleep and no luck. for unknown reasons i was able to get a charge going . Wondering if there is some known way to get around that all in locations with poor internet connections? It seems that when plugged in and with BT connection, it should have been straight forward.... thanks for all the thoughts and ideas

Mine charges fine with no Internet to the charger or truck. My charger is a Rivian so maybe it’s a brand thing. Seems odd though. The only time I see the “no cloud connection” is on the app, which I don’t need to use to charge.

cloud error was on phone . maybe i missed it but on the truck screen i could not find anywhere to initiate charging. it did at one point say replug and the charge port ring was red. i re plugged in and it went white but no green. did finally get it going by moving to another charger unit (they had 3). a bit of angiety :) but it did finally get going.

The "no cloud" issues and the charging issues were completely separate. When in these types of areas it is best to manage the charge directly from the truck.

I think there was a charger problem. I’ve never had to initiate a charge from the truck. Either set up payment at a public charger and plug in or just plug in at home and it starts.

Smart wall chargers don't need an internet connection to work, and you're right that the connection should begin as soon as you plug in.
The issue is likely with the charger. A few things to check.
- Look in the charger handle and check for obvious dirt or corrosion, or even a missing pin.
- I just replaced my old wall charger installed in 2012. It would be intermittent when plugging in and 50% of the time the car would show white but not charge. To correct, I would disconnect, cycle the circuit breaker, then plug in and it would start. But this was a clear sign that the charger was starting to fail, and circuit breakers are not designed for repeated cycling, so I replaced it. You may want to try it, though.

thanks for the info.... followed up w the Inn as headed there again soon. turns out there was a very strong storm that afternoon and they have a remote generator that kicked on after power loss. i think the charger i chose out of 3 must have had trouble like you have noted.......was a mystery but thanks for the suggestions to dial it in if a storm hits again!
