Ok. So just unrelated that it started to flip now then? Is there a way to either
A) get a larger breaker? I’m assuming that means getting electrician again
B) setting the amp on the car so it charges at 40? It seems to always reset itself to 48.
You can set the current in the truck but you should also be able to do it via the EVSE. I don't have a Rivian EVSE so I cannot help you figure out how to set the current there. If you can't find the setting in the truck I will get a screenshot for you.

See my note above about replacing the breaker.

Thank you for all the help. I know how to change the amp in the truck to 40. Not sure how to change it on the Rivian wall box but I will look into the manual and see if there is a way to “turn it down” so to speak.
Thanks again for all the help

Very simple right in the manual. Couple screws to remove the face after power is off and move the dip switch to match the picture in the manual. Reassemble and charge with safety and confidence.

Did you try a hard reboot? Per the release notes 46.30 should have fixed your cold weather charging issue. Maybe it just needs a reboot since you got that update.

Let us know if that works or not.
Okay, we did hard reset and it seems to work 3/3 when plugging in to charge in the cold now.

There's still a problem with plugging in to charge time-of-day. Most of this week if I plug in charger at 6pm, set to charge at midnight, it'll trip my charger "fault" where light turns red and it won't charge.

I only got 1 of 4 successful time-of-day charges this week.

How do I prove it's my R1S SW problem or my Ampure charger?

^^^^

Reset the timer to 7pm so it can be monitored. I have had this on previous EVs where the vehicle and charger would not seem to coordinate waking up together and it errors out.

How do I tell "whodunit" though?

I initially suspected it to be the charger but after the last round of these issues all being Rivian SW.. I'm more suspicious of it being the R1S and not the fault of the charger, but I have a "dumb" charger and all it tells me is the red "fault" light.

Could open the door to wake the vehicle a minute before the start to see what messages are presented.
I would let it go unattended the first try and see what happens.

afaik if the vehicle asks for power and the charger fails.... most likely the charger.
possible the sequence of communication is not in sync from the sleep mode.

Do you have a portable charger to be tried? Or a buddy's house?

The idea is to do something different and see if anything changes.

Following up.

We tried waking up vehicle manually, we tried warming battery up, nothing seemed to help.

We got a second Ampure Go 2 charger and still had the same exact problems, and had a new problem where the connection from the wall AC plug to the converter kept coming slightly loose and needed to be pushed together every few days.

Both chargers would go to "fault" state at some random time before time-of-day charging or after it was complete.

We finally got tired of the problems and returned the Ampure Go 2 chargers and got a Rivian mobile charger and it works PERFECTLY.

We have noticed once it started charging before our programmed time-of-day which was very strange.. will keep an eye in that.
