Confirmation, guide assigned, how long until VIN / delivery?

I received configuration confirmation and was assigned a guide on November 9, 2022 (last Wednesday).
Guide in an email said "No current timeline to share but this process can take a few weeks."
How long does it usually take from this point to VIN / 8 steps?

I had guide assigned and config confirmed on 10/19 and still don’t have a VIN or 8 steps. It’s a crap shoot.

It took me 6 weeks from config confirmed to truck in my driveway. Now you will get less time than that if you already have a VIN and you're in Cincinnati because the truck will be delivered to your nearest service center by semi not rail car. I see that you don't have your VIN yet.

How this process was explained to me by my guide is that you are now in the build queue. They run a new build cycle every 8 weeks, and you are in that cycle. You should have your truck in approximately 8 weeks from configuration locked if your truck isn't going by rail. It's only a couple weeks once you have your VIN. That means your truck is made and just needs to get to the service center.

This part is going to seem like a long wait for you but looking back it goes faster than you think.

Confirm Configuration/Guide assigned on Oct 18. Not sure when the VIN was assigned but I noticed it a day or two later. Picked up in Brooklyn on Nov 5.

Specs: Silver/BM 21”
End of October estimate: Apr - Jun23
Configuration confirmation/guide assigned: Nov 7

Guide indicated no known delivery date/indicates as ‘pending’ on the site.
No further contact yet.

Got my configuration locked this week. Guide assigned. Guide told me truck is done and heading to Richmond, VA. I was told 1-3 business days for the vin to be assigned and 8 steps to open. I’ve gotten two emails about the digital buying experience. Guide also told me likely 3-4 weeks until delivery.

Wow! Congrats! I got my confirm email this week and I was kinda banking on having 6-8 weeks to get past the holidays but I guess that’s not always the case. ?‍?

Everything happened faster for me than Rivian had projected, and I received mine a week before the Nov/Dec window they originally provided. Total time from locked config to delivery availability was less than seven weeks. This includes rail transit, which it sounds like you won't be subject to. Here's my timeline:
8/17/2022 Shop access unlocked
8/20 Silent guide assignment
9/1 Locked configuration.
9/30 Eight Steps unlocked, assigned VIN.
10/6 Guide called, truck en route to SC with ETA 10/29.
10/19 Guide called to report truck arrived at SC. Delivery ETA 2-3 weeks..... Rivian delivery email sent hours later. Scheduled for delivery 10/24.

I guess I will find out soon! I emailed my guide just to introduce myself but also told him I know he’s probably very busy and I’m in no hurry. Seems like a BUNCH of these confirmation emails were sent by Rivian just in the last couple weeks.

Guide -> VIN - > 8 Steps was a day for me. Then 5.5 weeks to pickup (south SF). About 11 days of that was pre-delivery at the SC.

I found text worked much better than email, so you may want to try that instead. My guide was very responsive with text. Zippo with email. YMMV.

FYI for anyone concerned (as I was) - it’s a text gateway to some internal customer comms application they use, so it’s not like you’re going to be bombarding your Guide’s actual mobile phone during dinner or weekends.
