Conflict at the Supercharger

You should be communicating with your fellow Musk fans to educate them on what is now allowed at the 15,000 superchargers opened to Ford/ Rivian. They obviously aren't paying attention.

As soon as it was announced some Superchargers were going to be opened to all, a lot of Tesla owners felt blindsided. But I did educate them on how this would be a good thing for accelerating the transition to EVs and that we should be gracious hosts.

I'm not so stupid as to think I could single-handedly prevent situations such as that shared by the OP, but I do think it helps to get other people thinking about the bigger picture, rather than get angry that they might have to wait 10-15 minutes once in a while.

I just don't understand the "us vs. them" mentality. We're all in this together, regardless of which brand of car you bought.

A number of Tesla stans feel slighted because they helped fund the Supercharger Network with their purchases. Still, I encouraged them to share and work with, not against, their fellow EV compatriots. But you have to realize, there will always be unreasonable assholes like "Mr. Muscleshirt". Nothing I can do about the likes of him.

And to be perfectly honest I understand why they would feel that way. But the truth of the matter is they were not promised an exclusive charging network for the duration of their ownership, even if they do still have 35,000 chargers to themselves.

As I have stated multiple times in this thread I would not show up to a supercharger with the intention of blocking chargers or causing trouble. I would attempt to use the far right stall if possible, or even park on the backside if it helped to avoid conflict. But if neither of those are possible and the SC was my best charging option at the time, I would not hesitate to use it as instructed and laugh at Mr Muscles while he throws his tantrum.

It was that 1 Tesla owner who had a meltdown that was being "divisive". Not OP. Not me.

I think signage at the SuperChargers could go a long way towards helping people understand how to use the spots most efficiently. Concisely showing / describing vehicles with right charge ports (when facing the pedestal) starting to fill from the left and not leaving gaps with left charge port vehicles starting to fill from the right and not leaving gaps would probably help everyone understand how to make the most of available resources.

Even a QR code stuck on existing SC signage could take people to the Tesla support page. This would only be helpful if Tesla improves their content.

As it stands, anyone looking at the official diagram from Tesla on that page would think a left charging EV (like a Rivian) should start filling spaces from the left, which is the opposite of what they want, and not parallel park (correct info, yay!). Tesla is contributing to the underutilization and conflict by objectively failing to provide helpful information at SC sites and on the related page on their site.

Sometimes engineers struggle to communicate with the gereral public in a clear way. I am an engineer so I see it all the time.
