I'm contemplating a swap to aftermarket tires (road tires) on the 20" AT wheel for my R1T. I'm hesitant because of conflicting information I read here, as well as hear from service center reps at Rivian as to the experience we can expect from the truck/SUV.

Here are the top questions I feel we need official consensus on as owners:
  1. Do wheel changes require an official service center visit, or can they be performed with mobile service?
    1. I've been told by different reps that we can have a local shop install the wheels, and have also heard that we are required to take them to an official service center
  2. Do wheel changes require a software update?
    1. I've read that no, it is not required, but speedo and range will be inaccurate
  3. Are aftermarket tires supported in a software update?
    1. Have not read/heard anything about this
  4. What changes with the car if a software update occurs?
    1. I've read about in-vehicle car graphics, speedometer calculation and range estimation
If you've done research on this or have completed a swap yourself, please chime in here. Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

If you keep the same tire size/diameter, you shouldn't have any issues. The 20" ATs are a 34" diameter tire, 275/65R20.

I was wondering the same thing, if someone wants to put on a winter set. Also how does tire pressure monitoring switch over to the new set.

I switched from the 21's to 20" Falken Wildpeaks A/T3W on dodge rims. Same overall diameter and working fine so far. No TPMS so the truck tells me need to check tire pressure when i first get in but besides that it is all fine. Based on what the manual says about installing the spare with TPMS the truck should pick up the sensors on their own after a few miles as long as they are rivian programed sensors.
