Was packing the truck for a short trip the other day. I finally had my PTC installed a few months ago. I have a (100qt?) Coleman Xtreme cooler that’s 20+ years old. Prior to the PTC I had a soft tonneau cover. The cooler fit under it but the PTC is ~2-3” lower than the soft tonneau cover. The old cooler is now about 2” too tall.

I’m looking for the a large cooler that will fit under the closed PTC, and ideally in the frunk too for flexibility when packing. Doesn’t need to be powered but I wouldn’t rule one out.

I didn’t find anything searching by forum title.

I have an Igloo 52qt that fits perfectly under the PTC. My 23qt BougeRV fridge/freezer fits in the frunk and the gear tunnel too.

I use Grok and Perplexity for tasks like this. Both have great shopping assistants.

Thanks @DeanB1452 I was thinking I might need to go with 2 smaller coolers.

I tried an AI chat bot too but the results and back and forth were meh. Looking for real world examples. The frunk is an odd shape.

Isn't that what this forum is about, sharing hacks about how we personalize our vehicles…. and complaining ;)

If it was ChatGPT or Google, of course the results would be poor.

For things like this I’d use both personal experience and search tools.

2 advantages of two smaller coolers are the division of weight and less cooling loss when you only access one cooler for an item. I find it can pack 1 cooler farther forward in the bed for longer term storage and keep the second cooler at the back of the bed for quick access for things like lunch and snacks while on the road.

I haven't tried this in the frunk, because I didn't intend to put it there. But for fit under the PTC, this is the best I could find, and it's 41 quarts:

So it's close to the volume of the two smaller ones above, but definitely hefty.

For non-powered options, check out Rugged Road coolers. From another forum post, the 45 fits in the frunk. The 65 (which I have) definitely fits under the PTC but I haven't tried it in the frunk. The 85 is only 17" tall, so I think it might just fit under the PTC. Great coolers, great company!
