So frustratingly had my truck about three days before going in for tint, PPF, and ceramic coating. Unfortunately, the tint tech jacked up my window trim and now I am working with Rivian service to get it fixed. They’re throwing in ceramic coating on wheels and windows (they were offering to do ceramic tint on the moonroof glass but I declined due to concerns I’ve heard about heat trap and potentially weakening the glass therein because of how that glass is treated already to prevent UV penetration). Needless to say, they’re paying for damages as well.

So far, less the mess up, both Rivian and the tint/PPF installer have been professional all things considered. I was called day of today by Rivian upon submitting ticket to confirm issue and start a service plan. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly and gets fixed correctly and asap. Meanwhile been getting goodies like the family bike rack, WeatherTech bed liner, and crossbars in the mail. First adventure with the truck long overdue!!!

My truck was delivered with window trim lifting in the exact same spot. Could be a manufacturing defect your poor tint person exacerbated.

My window trim is also lifting in the same spot, same door, after about 3 months of ownership. No tinting done on mine, just started lifting on its own. Must be a manufacturing flaw. Have repair ticket submitted.

So follow up. Rivian mobile service was awesome, fixed trim a week later. Went back for complementary maintenance wash and tint and PPF shop gave me a reimbursement check for service call. Honestly very painless. They ended up upgrading whole truck to newest xpel PPF with embedded ceramic coating along with ceramic on all glass and wheels. At the end of the day, very pleased with work.

Wanted to wait to post a review impression positive or negative until all things were done and finished. Company was California Tint in Everett, WA. Seth and Ryan were super professional. Saw a couple other Rivians there over the course of my few visits. They mentioned they’ve done 15+ R1Ts now IIRC and this was the first time they had this issue. Truck got the whole nine yards, so very happy even considering snafu. Checking back here now sounds like a few trucks had bad fasteners there anyway? ?‍♂

Also reduced radiant heat is awesome with the windshield tint. Car says cooler way easier now.

Issue like this wouldn’t exist, if Rivian released a service and repair manual for the R1T and R1S.

All things considered and given this context now, I’ve now had four cars treated with tint, ceramic coating and PPF. Even amidst the trim issue, I will gladly use California Tint again in the future.

On our Quadrifoglio, went through the dealer and they used Midnight Tint who did a great job. Was on me when I had a small bubble in one window and never went back to fix.

APC did our Palisade and was not impressed. Asked for full ceramic and then after the job was done, was told the PPF sections weren’t included for a price that was comparable to Midnight. Needless to say maintenance therein has been more of a PITA. They also left streaks and result was just sloppy in spots so didn’t return service.

I’ve heard good things about Metropolitan but they’re pricey. They were asking 2k more for the same level of service as California.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. Stek PPF is already infused with a coating so there is no benefit to ceramic coating over the top of it. The ceramic coating package you got for the remaining areas of your vehicle was discounted 30% off the regular price because we aren't coating the PPF areas. No excuse for streaks or miscommunications though, and for that I sincerely apologize!

Perhaps it’s Stek as a product then. If it was truly ceramic infused like the Xpel product on our Rivian, day 1 didn’t come close to how hydrophobic and easy to clean the newer xpel product is. Midnight was ceramic over traditional 3M PPF. To this day 3+ years later is still performing like day 1. Not being combative here, just reporting our experience.

I haven't seen the ultimate fusion PPF from Xpel as it just came out so it's hard for me to compare. We have always had good results from Stek and would be happy to look at yours if it's not performing as it should! We stand behind our work and would like you to be happy with your Palisade.

My truck is in service and this is one of the items it’s in for. Same exact spot.
