Like most, I'm dubious on these being used as sliders. If they want to sell a lot of these, they'll release more photos or videos of them being properly put through rigorous use (and lower the price by about $1k...).

For the moment, I will be waiting for others to come out with their variants and hopefully for Rivian to come out with their own.

I'm just glad to see three underbody brackets largely using OEM hardware or mounting points.

I applaud the effort. Looks like a good start, however I agree with the sentiment of the forum. These look like running boards not sliders. I'm not sure how much weight the brackets could hold.

Hopefully they prove us all wrong! Seems like a quality manufacturer (although they don't typically do rock sliders...)

These look like they don't need to cantilever out from the frame nearly as far as a typical Toyota rock slider since the rivian frame rails are very wide (from one of the munroe teardown videos). It looks like the mounting surface with the slotted hole near the slider will press up on the frame and it is only maybe 3 inches from the slider so perhaps the brackets are adequate. I do agree though that there needs to be pictures/videos of them in use. Jack up one side of the vehicle with a hi-lift, and drop onto some rocks so we know they can handle it.

Posted the same on RS, but these certainly don't look like sliders.

Looking at these on the Weistec website, they look laughable. There's no way the mount points on those are strong enough to support the weight of the truck. Look at the sliders available on most Toyotas and you see a flat plate that runs the length of the slider that bolts to probably 10-15 places on a frame rail with 1.75" DOM tubing and 2" square tubing for the structure...all for vehicles weighing 2000 lbs less. Proper rock sliders should be capable of being dropped on a rock, dragged across, and/or used as a jack point without resulting in sufficient deflection to damage the body. And as others have said, they're easily 2-2.5x the price mark expected.

Laughable indeed.

Sliders that will hold the weight of my Tacoma weigh 75lbs a side. They are 1-3/4″ Dia x .120″ Wall Tubing DOM. All so a less than 5k truck can both be dropped on the slider and jacked from the slider.

Go to virtually an truck forum and you will find the folks who

And almost no protection for the rocker panels. This assumes of course that the buyer wants/need off-road protection, not just steps.
$2400 for steps is _______!

Until you do, sure. But you fit something like this to your vehicle hoping you never test it...and then you're glad you have them when you do. I have a nice dent in my 1.75" DOM tubing sliders on my 4Runner where I slid off of a rock in a very tight spot and landed on the slider. Would've been some nasty body damage had I not had them and strong enough to take the hit.
A quick look at variou
If you market it for outdoor/off-road adventure, it's going to get used that way. And you don't always get to choose the environment. Obviously you can decide before you go that one trail may be too difficult, but even something rated moderate could have an unexpected rock slide or you do everything right and still slide off of something and test the limits of your equipment. It's why most of us outfit our vehicles beyond what seems necessary to most when running trails. Then again, I'm in Colorado and our trails have more rocks than mud, so it's just a given that you'll wind up hitting rocks at some point. Also why a full-size spare is an absolute requirement out here, not to mention LT rated tires vs the P-metric ATs the Rivian comes with for better sidewall protection.
This is also true throughout the Ozarks and east along the way to PA and beyond.

Hard pass on the sliders. Those are way overpriced.
For comparison, Rockslide engineering sliders have a power deployable step and are $2309 for a set.

Those are sick! If the length of those works out, I would consider making my own mounts to put them on my R1T. Need to watch some reviews first, but I'm seriously going to consider it. My friends don't call me Captain Custom for nothing.

RockSlide Engineering has been around for a good long while. Those are quality steps/sliders. These were specifically made for a 2018 or newer Wrangler JLU. I'm sure they could be made to work with an R1T but the curb weight of a Wrangler JLU is 3948lbs. So I'm not sure how well they would work as a true rock slider for a 7100lb truck. Of course, as a just a deployable step, I think they'd work fairly well.

Might be less costly, and more fun, if “the Captain” started from scratch!

I just looked closely at my R1T and took some measurements to see if these gladiator steps could be made to fit. They are a very close fit at 91" long. What I realized that is pertinent to this post is the doors on the Rivian come all the way down to the bottom of the rocker panels. They're actually attached to the doors, so any steps or sliders have to mount completely under them and will reduce the ground clearance by whatever height they have. I need to find a picture of the Rivian doors with the plastic covers off to see how low the actual door inside comes down. In order to get a step there without taking away clearance, I think the plastic panels would need to be modified or replaced with custom made ones. I will continue to research.
