I have no interest in selling my preorder or buying another, but I would imagine there would be a way to still do this. For example, let's say my wife setup my preorder with her name/email and I wanted to buy the car in my name + financing, couldn't we just enter all my info at time of purchase? It would require a decent amount of trust however and not something I personally would do, but I would think still possible if the reservation holder and the buyer wanted to manage the transaction together.

Rivian won't allow this for obvious reasons. They are only fulfilling pre march pricing for the people who have been waiting that long. Everyone else needs to pay the cost of current vehicles. Rivian is trying to make money, and it doesn't make sense for them to sell their vehicles at a lower price to someone who hasn't been waiting.

I bet a lot of people would like to buy a pre 3/1 preorder for $5k.………..since it saves $15-$20k from today’s prices. If you order today, what’s the price going to be when you get it? ? I think if you’re serious you might need to up the offer a bit.

With that being said, not sure you could slide it by Rivian.

Nope. The guide will shut it down.

It's not possible. You have to fully buy the car and resell it, anyone that claims to have a way to transfer a preorder is scamming. I promise you it won't work, the guide will cancel it before anyone gets the car.

Current resale for r1t is around 10k profit on the sale. Not sure why you think you are making anyone a deal....

Im in 8 steps right now. Will put two hundred or so miles on my r1t to decide if I want to keep it over the lightning. If someone offers me around 93k for it , I may sell it if I don't keep it. If not, it'll be returned within 7 days back to rivian.
