Delivery nightmare - please help!

We have completed the entire purchasing process on our Rivian r1s and the delivery was suddenly canceled without explanation. They currently have the entire approximately 90k via wire but our guide and nobody from customer support is available to explain what has happened. No answers to phone calls, texts or emails. Has anybody experienced this? Please advise as I do not know where to go from here except via legal counsel!

How long has it been since delivery was cancelled? Guides, SCs and support are all a bit backed up. It took them 36hrs to call me back for a minor concern (24hrs to email/message me back in case of the guide). I’m sure they will reach out and not “steal” the money.

there can be many reasons why delivery suddenly gets cancelled, ie they found a quality issue that made them not want to give you this truck and now they have to get you a different one with the same spec which takes extra time. It’s frustrating but in a way also appreciated.

Probably key details missed out. Rivian are a reputable company and there is likely an issue with the vehicle. They may not respond within just an hour our two (you didn’t say how long the “silence” had been) but there is no need to jump to lawyers at this stage.

hey, look, another "nightmare" that is a mild inconvenience. Your delivery might be delayed a couple days, oh noooooo. Rivian didn't keep your money, relax. So RJ created a car company, made 70-80K vehicles, company is worth billions, and all of this just so they could take YOUR 90K? Doubtful guy. Relax, it will get sorted out.

Wow that sounds pretty alarming. I'm sorry you're going through this. How are you notified the order was canceled? How far are you from the service center where you were scheduled to take delivery?

I had my R1S delivery cancelled a few days after my payment. A few days later they re-scheduled for the same day Jan 20 this weekend. They said my original VIN was damaged during transport. I don’t know, maybe they found a buy at full retail price instead of my pre-IPO lower price. But in any case, I have another VIN with the same schedule. Hopefully my purchase follows through this weekend.

Hopefully my purchase follows through this weekend.

You should be fine now that they’ve communicated a new VIN (and very cool they got it on the same date).

Sorry to hear that. As long as they have the money, they will give you the car. Mine took 1 month after finishing the whole steps. Of course, it got delayed. But are you sure you sent the money to Rivian? ? You will get it… no big worries.

As others have said, take a breath… it will get resolved.
I wired my $90K 24 hours before delivery appt. Then 14 hours before delivery received email that my vehicle had been damaged during transport and delivery was to be delayed 2-3 weeks. It doesn’t feel good, and may well create some additional delivery and logistics hassles, but it will get worked out, and a month from now you will be driving and smiling.
