I'll start by saying the R1S disappear from the demo website 2mn after being posted, so choice is very limited even when you watch the site constantly (I suspect bots?!). But if they actually move the cars around now, this means an IL car is worth it for an East Coast delivery ($~3k shipping!)

I have a 'reserved' car in Maryland since last Wednesday, reached out over chat/email and have yet to hear from anyone.

The quickest way is to schedule a test drive and speak to a human- the test drive guide will expedite the sale

I received a call from my guide yesterday and today. I learned they have reinstated transferring vehicles from one location to another. My demo is in Virginia. They are transferring it the the Atlanta SC free of cost.

I'm trying to get a demo R1S out of Grand Rapids Michigan and my guide says they can't ship to my SC in Atlanta....says I have to go pick it up. @Ggunn9 can you connect me with the name of your guide? I want to see if I can save myself a trip. I've PM'ed you. Thx!

My guide just contacted me and highlighted I would have to get the car in Maryland. I wonder if there’s a difference based on where the car is. Normal is definitely equipped to send cars around but SC like Maryland (not a studio) might not be

Just reserved a couple of R1T's yesterday just so I could clear out some information with the sales advisor and his response is:

* No transports between service centers (except IL)
* No POS Discount, (its an R1T with Offroad and Underbody)
* No option to prepay for auto tonneau instal, and price is undisclosed.

Is there a specific configuration that receives the POS Discount? Not having this information readily available is frustrating

Guide (today) warned me that 2022 binding agreement may not be successful . I appreciate the warning and agree Rivian is not in the tax law business

What has been the overall feedback on the demo R1S? As far as quality, etc. Here is my situation: I ordered a 2022 R1S Launch Green in late May. We had delivery dates rescheduled twice due to last-minute "inspection imperfections." The first delay resulted from a seal in the tailgate that needed to be replaced. The car was finally shipped from the IL Factory to the Miami Service Center. Delivery was scheduled for this past Saturday. They called me last week and mentioned they needed to delay delivery again as they found another "inspection imperfection" in the roof. A part they did not have in stock needed to be replaced as it was introducing water. At this point, I have concerns about the state of my R1S. What was the overall experience for those who bought early VINs demo cars?

Consider yourself lucky they are addressing the issues before delivery- The service center I purchased my R1T did not even allow me to look at the truck before I signed all the paperwork onsite. I just dropped off the R1T today for service on broken fender piece, door trim, roof trim popping off and compressor door not closing. The service chose not to disclose these items, but waited for me to discover them.

Overall, I would still buy the truck, but probably would have gone for 2Gen rather than demo vehicle. I think many or majority are happy with their demo purchase. However, you need to be vigilant on finding the issues before driving off the service center, because it takes forever to schedule service.

To offer balanced perspective, last time I brought my ford transit to a ford dealer, it took 3 weeks to complete the 60K scheduled maintenance.

Yeah, great feedback! I've been happy that they have been proactive, but it also makes me question what I can expect post-delivery. They have been great and even provided me with a loaner R1T, as I had already sold my Tesla prior to having delivery dates moved around. I will definitely do an inspection myself at the time of pickup.

I noticed that last night Rivian ran out of available demo vehicles on their demo website. Usually when available demos run out they replenish with new demos...but not so far.

Yeah, I have been keeping an eye on the options recently and have been less than excited about the paint options they have had available for the last couple weeks. I’m hoping they close deals on a few of the “sale pending” vehicles and refresh the pool with other options.

They drop PST. Team is based out of Cali. If I recall they typically add more in the afternoon. As matter of fact my R1S showed up around 6pm EST on a Friday. Refresh button is your best friend.
