All,

There could be slight differences between Launch Editions even in the same year. They were making tweaks to minor things over time. Some of the changes were

Removed 12 volt outlet from frunk
Removed 12 volt outlet under dash
Changed trim on back of front seat from being wood like dash to plastic chrome
changed from 2 12 volt batteries to 1 battery and a capacitor

I’m sure there were other things as they adjusted to minor design tweaks and supply issues.

Is there anything more specific you are referring to?

Sanzco2,

Thank you for your response. No, just wondering if there were any differences between the two years.

All,
One thing that I have found is the 22 Launch Edition came with the 20" all terrain tires. I have found several 23 Launch Editions with 22" all season tires.

I have a 23 LE R1T that has everything on it. This came with 20” AT with underbody shield.

I have a 23 LE R1S that has Elevation audio and not Meridian. This came with 22” sport dark and underbody shield.

Launch edition people have free upgrade on tires and wheels. (standard is 21"). 20" and 22" are both considered upgraded. 20" only comes in AT and 22" only comes in All season. Just now for the 2025 model, Rivian ditched the 21" tires and 20" wheels have option of AT and AS (Although, the new AS tires are actually AT according to Goodyear)

swflor,
Thank you for your response. I have been looking for either used 22 LE or 23 LE. The tire size was one of the observations that I found. I would prefer a 23 LE with 21" tires.

The only way you want 21” is if you change them to Michelin Defender LTX MS2.

You will only have 2 tire choices for the size since the 21s have been discontinued.

There are not that many Launch Edition out there with 21" tires since people opt for the free upgrade to 20" and 22". I would go for the 20" and change your tire size to 275/60/20. This will make it the same as 21". There are plenty of people on here trying to dump their 21" wheels for cheap.

LL75,
Thank you for the your response. I appreciate the information on the tires. I would prefer the 21" AS tires over the 20" ATs because of better range.

LL75s point is valid consideration.

you can put all seasons on the 20” rim in the smaller size to give the same range as the 21”

My 2023 R1S came with 21" all season tires. I swapped it with 20" wheels and put on General Grabbers HTS60 all season tires 275/60/20 size. This will make it the same overall diameter as the 21". This set up is actually a little more efficent than the original OEM 21".
