I've been driving a Tesla for the past three years and appreciated how the turn signals would automatically turn off after a lane change or corner at any speed. On my week-old R1S, the turn signals do not always turn off after a lane change or turning a corner. Am I missing something, or is there a setting I should adjust?

Nope they kind of just suck, sometimes they turn off after a turn sometimes they don't. Auto turn off on highway lane change is not an option yet.

Gen 2 has smart lane change signals. Go through settings menu and turn on if Gen 2. Works for me just fine

Never had too much issue with mine turning off after a corner.

Regarding lane changes:
Tap will blink 3 times, then cancel.

On Gen 2 (2025+) if you click the stock all the way down, it will automatically cancel after a lane change. But only if you're in a highway assist mapped zone.

If highway assist is currently engaged, a full click of the stock will auto lane change and then cancel the signal

“ a full click”, I bet that is the answer. Thank you.

I just picked up my Gen2 R1S on Tuesday and noticed the same thing at first. Last night while driving 60 miles around San Diego County just for the fun of it and to get familiar with the vehicle, I think I figured it out. There are two stalk positions and you can feel when it hit’s the bottom of that position. A light tap down until you feel the first “back pressure” stop point will blink the right turn signal three times and then stop. The reverse but up will do the same quick three turn signal blinks and then terminate.

If you pull the stalk all the way down past that first positional pressure point to the bottom positional “click” point, it will blink til the turn is done but if it doesn’t terminate the signal, you just click down (think down works for both left and right turn signal cancel, otherwise same for right but up) til you get that FIRST click point/feel the position pressure and THAT will terminate the turn signal.

Hope that made sense. Wasn’t sure of the lingo to use but I played with it in my garage for about 2 mins and replicated the above scenarios, no problem. Try just lightly pushing the stalk and you’ll see there are two positions where you’ll feel a “pressure” as if you hit the end of the distance the stalk can go. Light tap just goes to the first position and pulling down harder goes to second position on the stalk.

Hope that helps!
