Weird to see people advocating FOR buying the car & reselling but AGAINST selling a reservation. Bizarre. I'd rather someone spend 10k to just swap a reservation rather than create a bizarre secondary used/flipped Rivian market.

I can understand being against both but I want Rivians going directly to people that want them.

But again, you won't be able to transfer a reservation when a guide has been attached anyway.

Regardless of right/wrong/personal feelings, I'd be really, really skeptical about buying a reservation if a guide has been assigned. Rivian always has the ability to cancel a reservation and if a guide has been assigned the change won't go unnoticed.
You cannot. Can confirm. Rivian would rather the truck get cancelled.

To everyone who is very upset with me for selling my reservation, I’ll offer a few words, I don’t expect it will resonate but at least you’ll know where I’m coming from. I was a very, very early believer in Rivian. However, over the past 3+ years, Rivian hasn't handled their customer relations well and this week it came to a head for me. I’m not making money off of their “discount” per some other comments- this $73k was the sticker price for almost 4 years up until a few days ago. I wanted to love the brand and the product, I went to all of the meetups. I went to CES, I went to NY Auto Show, I met with people who worked there, with engineers in Normal. But for me, every non-marketing email from Rivian since mid 2019 has been an endless string of disappointment. If you put your deposit down with a shipping estimated time in 2020, how are you not a little bummed out? There are forces beyond RJ’s control, but Rivian made a massive mistake this week. They let all of you down. They thought you wouldn’t be angry. They took you for granted. They took your hard earned dollars for granted. If you miscalculate the supply chain timing by 2 years and production costs by over 15%, the mistake is owned by you, not your customers. Don’t take your terrible forecasting out and tough breaks out on early adopters, the believers, the people in this thread and on these forums when you have ample cash on hand to withstand these setbacks. That’s exactly what they did and I’m not okay with it. I’m not a bottom feeder trying to make a buck, I can buy the truck in cash no problem, I’m doing this because it is a very very small way (completely insignificant some will laugh) to try and say “what Rivian did this week is simply not okay”. And they were going to gouge you, to follow through with the price increases until their PR team begged RJ to write a letter and Ford and Amazon pressured RJ to hit send. Anyway, be upset if you will, but not gonna lose sleep over taking a very small stand against a terribly run company that had everything going for it.

No better way to “stick it to em” than to complete the purchase of the truck you reserved.

Your reasons for being upset are justified, but if this is how you think you're going to show "what Rivian did this week is simply not ok" this doesn't make any semblance of sense.

You know the classic saying - "Resentment is drinking poison and then hoping it kills your enemies".

By charging some sucker $10k to jump to the top of the line you aren't punishing Rivian, you are punishing everyone of your fellow reservation holders who have been waiting as long as you and actually want their trucks.

Everything you said there makes no sense at all. You say you've been let down, yet you're on the cusp of delivery. You've waited 99% of the time, only turn it down when the truck is finally ready for you. Did Rivian make a mistake this week? Yes. No one is perfect but at least they had the humility to reverse their decision and admit to the mistake. Also, forecasting supply chains? So I guess everyone should have forecasted a pandemic. Stupid world for not taking that into consideration while living for the last 2 yrs

Reselling would be a breach of contract. Not that I'd expect Rivian to take recourse, just to prevent any future purchases (of course that wouldn't matter in a year or two when Rivians become generally available.)

This probably isn't the best place to sell your reservation. Do a quick google search there are FAR more receptive selling points.

Also, sell it if you want I don't hold a grudge. I pre ordered both models and my truck is ready to pick up, but COVID was a 'MFer and while I may have been "flush with CAAA$$$$$H" in 2018 - 2020 it's not that way right now :).

It's all about perspective....OP could have invested that 1K in 2018 and it could easily be worth 10k today.
