Histrionic much?

Let's see RJ has raised $12 Billion dollars, initiated production on three major vehicles, delivered several thousand already, and... yeah, no, you're right. He's done nothing but let you down.

Don't let the Kia hit you in the arse on the way out.
Let’s leave Kia out of this…. I’ll line my EV6 against any ICE vehicle you got ;)

Regardless of right/wrong/personal feelings, I'd be really, really skeptical about buying a reservation if a guide has been assigned. Rivian always has the ability to cancel a reservation and if a guide has been assigned the change won't go unnoticed.

Especially if geography has been playing into the delivery timelines.

Yeah, I hit that 1000 thread limit myself recently. You can reset and start over, but let me tell you, the first day or 2 after doing that sucks as you have to re-ignore any of those threads that are still active. But it was worth it in the end.

Not sure what the difference is here between me taking delivery of my R1T and selling it next day for $12k more on the street and just selling my spot in line? I put my faith in RJ in 2018 by putting a deposit down, he’s done nothing but let us down for 4 years. This past week was the last straw even though he walked it back.
N just cancel your order. You're going to screw over someone who pays you $10k and then gets their order cancelled by Rivian. Buy the truck or don't. If you want to sell a truck after buying it, feel free.

Hmm, sounds about as painful as unsubscribing from all the unwanted emails I get. ??‍♂

He might think the truck might not be worth as much if the new buyer can't get the tax credit.

Tons of risk here for a buyer. I personally wouldn’t risk $10k on it.

1. Is it a scam?
2. How can you ensure it gets transferred?
3. Will Rivian cancel reservation?
4. If you can’t change the name with Rivian, will there be issues with the tax credit, service, membership?
5. Will location of delivery affect date?

My thoughts…

1. Is it a scam?
Could be..

2. How can you ensure it gets transferred?
Do it over a screen sharing session. Watch them change email. However, eventually someone is going to have to send money or transfer first! ?

3. Will Rivian cancel reservation?
They have the right to, but haven’t heard of it happening. In the past, chats with CS seemed to indicate they didn’t care. Could always change.

4. If you can’t change the name with Rivian, will there be issues with the tax credit, service, membership?
N/A - you do it right in the website, I’ve changed my email before. Name is right there to change too.

5. Will location of delivery affect date?
Yep, it could. You can change your delivery location if you scroll to bottom of your config.

With all that, yes lots of risk for buyer.

Buy the truck and sell it if you want, but selling a reservation is lame. It means you don't have cash for the final purchase and you are just looking to see if you can scam someone in to getting you out of the situation with some profit.

I didn't realize they allowed transfers in the past. For sure should stop that now. I'm a late pre order and assume half of all pre orders wont go through with it regardless. Not really fair to others in line if you can sell your spot. And not fair for Rivian to allow others to make money of their loss of revenue via the discount.

The difference is who has the power. The truck isn't yours until it's in your hands. That's really the only difference.

Personally, I don't think Rivian should have ever allowed transfers. Just attracts bottom-feeders looking to make a buck. Cancel your order, get out of line, let the rest of us that actually want the vehicle get ours sooner.
To everyone who is very upset with me for selling my reservation, I’ll offer a few words, I don’t expect it will resonate but at least you’ll know where I’m coming from. I was a very, very early believer in Rivian. However, over the past 3+ years, Rivian hasn't handled their customer relations well and this week it came to a head for me. I’m not making money off of their “discount” per some other comments- this $73k was the sticker price for almost 4 years up until a few days ago. I wanted to love the brand and the product, I went to all of the meetups. I went to CES, I went to NY Auto Show, I met with people who worked there, with engineers in Normal. But for me, every non-marketing email from Rivian since mid 2019 has been an endless string of disappointment. If you put your deposit down with a shipping estimated time in 2020, how are you not a little bummed out? There are forces beyond RJ’s control, but Rivian made a massive mistake this week. They let all of you down. They thought you wouldn’t be angry. They took you for granted. They took your hard earned dollars for granted. If you miscalculate the supply chain timing by 2 years and production costs by over 15%, the mistake is owned by you, not your customers. Don’t take your terrible forecasting out and tough breaks out on early adopters, the believers, the people in this thread and on these forums when you have ample cash on hand to withstand these setbacks. That’s exactly what they did and I’m not okay with it. I’m not a bottom feeder trying to make a buck, I can buy the truck in cash no problem, I’m doing this because it is a very very small way (completely insignificant some will laugh) to try and say “what Rivian did this week is simply not okay”. And they were going to gouge you, to follow through with the price increases until their PR team begged RJ to write a letter and Ford and Amazon pressured RJ to hit send. Anyway, be upset if you will, but not gonna lose sleep over taking a very small stand against a terribly run company that had everything going for it.

@Moonshot Totally get why you're upset with Rivian. But if you really wanted to take a stand against Rivian, you would simply cancel and move on. Anything else and Rivian isn't going to get the message thus we can only interpret this as you looking to pad your wallet.
