Well covered in the forums. They started removing things like the 12V under the dash and frunk around Feb. 2023. If you have a vehicle later than that that still has one, it's usually because it was put together with "leftover stock".

Also, the obligatory reason why:

December 2022 R1T build - 12V outlet under the dash, none in frunk.

Low-profile 12V adapters turn these into USB-A/USB-C outlets very conveniently.

I have a June 2023 delivery r1t and cannot find the 12 v outlet advertised by the user manual to be in the dash or under the dash. Cannot find a 12 v outlet in the entire front seat area.

just wondering what others have…
Yes, below center display, just above storage area (12V)

While the outlet may not be there, I suspect the harness will be so it may be possible to add one
My delivery guide said the wiring should still be there when I expressed mild disappointment I had no interior 12v.

I’m sure someone more motivated than I will re-add the interior 12v by end of year.

And if nobody does, maybe it wasn’t that important, after all. OBD to USB probably solves the vast majority of needs.

Mar/Apr 23 R1S build. No outlet in frunk, no 12v under dash. Only one is by back hatch.

With the right parts (2 mating female pins for the Sumitomo frunk OEM connector, 2 silicone wire seals and a 12V marine-grade outlet), you can add a 12V connector in the frunk and hook it into the pre-wired OEM connector. They still run 12V to the mating connector on the driver-side socket, but only the LED light on that side is wired to the connector. Just order some rubber seals (Sumitomo 7165-0471), the female terminals for the RS 090 (Sumitomo 8240-0265) and a decent 12V marine-grade socket. I used this one because the base is injection molded and wouldn't need to be waterproofed, and I didn't have to worry about connection lugs coming off the socket over time. It takes some work to try and get the socket nut installed, especially if you choose to install the 12V socket in the same area where Rivian originally installed the socket. At least the power is nearby and it's still fused and easy to hook into. It took me about 4 hours to add the 12V socket to my R1S frunk, but it looks nearly OEM at this point. You'll need to manually crimp these Sumitomo terminal on, unless you just happen to have a crimper that will work, and if you do - you may want to consider adding a small amount of solder to ensure a solid connection - just make damn sure you don't get ANY solder into the pinway or the external face of the wire sled, or the pin won't lock into the shell, and it might just push out when you try to connect it. Sumitomo pins are notoriously picky eaters when it comes to pristine crimps and properly sized water seals. I absolutely hate these connectors, personally.

Here's some linked pictures of the Sumitomo hardware you'd need if you want to use the existing OEM hardware:

Female terminals for the connector - make sure you get ones for your AWG! Note the area squared in yellow - do not get ANY solder in this area or the pin may not engage into the shell!

LE, built 11/21, VIN 0000xx. I have the 12v in the frunk, under the dash, and gear tunnel. Didn't know about the 110v outlet below the climate control. Went out and took a look after reading this and there it was! In total, I have 3x 12v and 4x 110v outlets.
