Looking at ways to transport my 12' paddleboard. In my previous truck I used a tailgate pad designed for SUPs but with the bed being a foot shorter I'm curious if anyone uses the roof rails with the Yakima/Rivian SUP mounts? Just feels like they're awfully close together for a 12' board to be secured well.

We use the Rivian Cargo Crossbars to transport for our SUP almost weekly. Just place your paddleboard behind the rear crossbar, close the tailgate and your good to go. This image below is somewhat distorted.

That's pretty much what I did with my Ram except I had a tailgate pad with an integrated tie down. It worked fine but always was nervous with that much sticking out the back. The Rivian being a 1' shorter bed will be even more vertical so was curious if the sup racks work well as I'd love to have it flat and not extending the trucks footprint and free up the bed space to hold fishing gear.

I ordered the supdawg with the truck and regretted it at first as it sat in the box for a year. Started using it after getting a second board, and used it a lot this summer with two 12'6" touring boards on it. You have to stagger them because of the fins (one of ours is a hard board) which makes the load even longer, but it works great. No worries about them flying off on the highway but it does whistle like crazy. No amount of twisting straps or changing the way I load them has saved my sanity in this regard.

Good to hear! Do you have any pics? Mine's a hardshell 12' paddleboard.
