Has anyone noticed how loud the car is from the outside anytime it's unlocked? Even if i turn off the HVAC on the inside, the car keeps roaring like a jet. It definitely sounds like the HVAC compressor, but it's incredibly annoying if you're showing someone the car (common occurrence with the rivian lol)
Yeah, you have to turn off AC and lock it and it quiets down. That fan gets a going if not…

Makes sense, I wonder if it will be a voluntary recall or if it’s even really an issue. It’s definitely very pronounced on the passenger side and I can’t unsee it now
That's the problem with looking: once you see it you can't unsee it. It would drive me crazy. My eyes would always go right to the pregnant part of that door.

At least they acknowledged the issue (for Dark-Fx) and are working on a solution.

I suspect that they won't do a recall unless it is a safety issue. If it is a cosmetic issue, they will just deal with folks who a.) even notice it at all b.) complain about it and ask them to do something.

I’m just going to tell my passengers that my car is turbo charged and that’s just the turbo kicking in

It hasn’t caused any performance issues, like leaks, noise, etc.. but I’ve noticed the doors are all difficult to close on the first try. But that’s all of the doors

I've been reading about the door closing issue in a lot of posts and I was looking out for it when I had my First Mile Drive. I didn't notice that the doors were especially hard to close on the test unit that they had but I believe everyone who says this is an issue.

I also didn't hear any drivetrain thunk or suspension noises during the test drive either.

Maybe we need to start buying the test drive units!

For reference, this is what mine looks like after they adjusted it. Last photo shows how much they moved the door on the lower hinge bolt to even get it to this point.

Maybe this just means it takes some time and use to soften the door closing and quiet the suspension noises.

Good hypothesis. I did not pay attention to how many miles my test unit had on it, but maybe we should start tracking mileage of people who are reporting these issues to see if there is a correlation.

First thing to test/check on door fitment issues is the door catch plate and latch alignment.

1) Wrap a small strip of blue tape around the door catch loops attached to the body of the the truck.

2) open and close each door a few times.

3) check the blue tape for scuffs and scrapes. It should NOT have any
If the tape is scuffed it means the door latch alligator mouth is not lined up with the door catch loop plate. So When the door is closed and the catch plate goes into the aligator mouth on the door catch it’s forcing the door to flex and stress on the hinges.

Poorly trained or lazy body work people do this to get the doors to line up when they are closed - instead of adjusting the doors properly at the hinges they just hammer the catch plate up or down.
My truck had this issue.

The other issues I’ve noticed are the AC is extremely loud and it doesn’t seem like the outer vents work very well, and then the front driver triangle window is very loud at speed. I put in a ticket for the window to be fixed, but the AC I don’t know what can be done about that, it’s very intrusive sounding. Sounds like a vacuum winding up.

Nothing terrible so far though, so I feel like I’ve been lucky, knock on wood
The outer vents can be fixed by turning them off for 10 seconds.

I have the same door issues as you. You can adjust this with the bolts on the door slightly.
See this page of this thread:
one door is pretty horribly formed among other issues (still love the truck overall, though) | Page 5 | Rivian Forums - R1T & R1S Owners, News, Discussions, RIVN Stock

I also have the wind noise from the triangle and it is ANNOYING. Service has ghosted me on this and a few other issues, but I'm kind of just wanting to wait until they open up shop here in Austin anyway (couple months away).

One of my doors is weird…Flush at upper and bottom crease…but sticks out in middle?! Like wtf. Stamping issue but I can live with it.
