Drive Cam No Longer Working

Hello. I tried searching different terms and hope I didn't miss a relevant thread.

I noticed my drive cam icon had a line thru it. I went to settings and saw the drive cam wasnt working. Went thru a reinstall of the drive and it errors out. Soft reset of no use.

Feels correlated with the .51 update but couldn't say for certain.

I have one of those rectangular 2 gb Samsung drives a lot of us installed. Worked flawlessly for over a year.

Just wondering if this is common or if there is a known remedy. Thanks in advance.

I noticed mine stopped working too. It randomly recorded a drive a couple of weeks ago and nothing since. I deleted that recording and cycled the drive cam on and off. That didn't help. I will try to format the drive next.

I mean drives go bad, and 2GB, you mean TB?

Yes, 2TB sorry. Gen X.....old habits die hard. Lucky I didn't say MB.

All other computer play nicely with it still. Will experiment with other drives and see if they work. Will reformat it on a computer and see if that works. Just wondering if this is an area where the rivian itself is finicky.

Been reading those update notes? Prior update made some vehicles picky about certain drives. Supposedly fixed by subsequent OTA. Have you tried reformatting? Data will be lost of course. Other thing to try: hard reset. You can also engage Support and see what they say. If it’s another bug, they should be made aware anyway.

I've gone through 4 different flash drives. Just ordered my 5th. Called up Riven and they tried a soft reset. Didn't help. Have a SC apt later this month for some other items and they added this to the list. Will report back on results in 6-8 months.

Sadly similar experience. Have tried 3 different drives none of them work. Hopefully someday a software update will resolve this.

I had the same situation as you. I had a Sandisk 2 TB portable drive that was initially working perfectly. Then I would get a message that there was not drive connected. Unplug and replug seemed to work, then it didn't. I deleted everything off the drive thinking the drive was full. Then when I used the drive, it would fail saying the speed was too slow. I reformatted it and so far so good ( I was one with having everything on the drive erased).

There is another thread were folks recommended a Samsung thumb drive. I bought one on Amazon, and will see if it works as well, just in case the Sandisk has issues again.

Since .47, I have had intermittent issues with Road Cam not available. I reformatted my 2TB drive and it recorded again. Sometimes I notice that once I get in the truck it says it isn't available with a line through the icon and then it goes away in about 10 seconds and it is recording again. It acts as if the system is slow and booting up before it recognizes the drive. A few times when it stays "unavailable" I have unplugged it from the USB-C port and plugged it back in before it was recognized and recording again. It works, but it's annoying that it's not automatic all the time.

Mine did the same thing for a week, then it finally never came back on line. Glad to hear your device is working. What are you using?

I'm using a Samsung T7 Portable SSD - 2TB.

I've had mine intermittently stop working a couple of times, which I solved with a soft reset. Comes back online just fine each time.

Same. Mine was working until sometime in October, not sure which OTA update that correlates with. I was using a Samsung MicroSD card + Anker card reader. I've replaced both the card and the reader with no success.

Relieved to know it's not just me, I'll start a service ticket.

I’m having a similar problem. Disk and drive work on all my other devices. My truck refuses it.

Switched over to a Samsung T7 2TB after my SSD setup stopped working. Plugged it in yesterday and it worked great right out of the box. Hope that continues to be the case.
