Hey all, we’ve got a ‘26 R1S. If parked on any kind of incline, the driver door won’t hold open when you push it out, all the way or halfway. Passenger door holds open fine on same incline.
Back to the driver door, it just slams back in on you. I went to install floor mats and it kept closing ON me, so I videoed the issue and took it over to the SC. They looked at the video, said it was normal, and wouldn’t touch it or look at the door check. Struck me as odd, because it isn’t an issue passenger-side.
I googled “door check not holding door open” and saw a bunch of people with doors closing on them swap it out for a new one that holds the door open just fine. Is that what I need to do here?
Could I just take this to any mechanic or do that swap myself? Video of the door closing on me that SC said was normal. YouTube doesn’t make this look all that hard as it’s just a straight swap that fixes the issue.
Never had a car door not stay open before. Doesn’t feel normal?
