They will have to roll back the software version or update the next software. A reset won't fix this.
Correct as far as we can tell... neither soft reset nor hard reset fixed this. Appears to have worsened for us as it may be happening on decel as well. ☹

It's such a glaring problem and we know it can be fixed with software, since it was broken by software -- makes me unconcerned.

It's annoying, but it will be fixed eventually. Rivian has wasted money on service center appointments over it.... they're well aware.

I have this too since 2024.51 update on my R1S DM MP. Way more noticeable at highway speeds than in the city. Filed a service request and mobile service noticed rear motor needed re-calibration. They’ve done that and just need to do some highway driving to test if it’s fixed.

Mobile tech said a manual recalibration was required.

I have Gen 1 DM and have not noticed this. I’m going to pay more attention and see if I notice anything.
Now I’m getting it. It’s very annoying and definitely wasn’t there before. 2024 DM AWD Large Adventure trim.

I’ve been noticing this clunk on hard acceleration in all purpose mode on my 2025 Dual Max. Definitely reminds me of ICE transmission clunking which…. just nah man. Rivian, please disable Chevy mode!

You’re lucky. Sent your post (and this thread) to Rivian Service regarding this noise/feeling, and our service center won’t allow mobile service to fix this - “This concern is best addressed at the service center,” ?

Now we have to wait 3 months for the Rivian service center to “fix” what can be fixed by a mobile tech within a week. Poor customer service is the Achilles heel of any company.

I have a feeling Rivian will roll back these changes in a future software update due to the complaints. Seems like an unnecessary burden on already crowded service centers to address this concern individually since we know 2024.51 caused this.

Unfortunately, after running some tests on the highway, the issue is not resolved so I’ll just have to wait for a software fix. Otherwise, was suggested it could be a sensor malfunction on the motor.

It's patch related and I'm sure they're well aware.

It does feel like an ice at times with it. Actually, it would still be the smoothest ICE ever -- but we know what the Rivian is capable of and there's no reason why it couldn't get back to that.

Nothing in the release notes on this. Of course there was nothing in the release notes that caused it on 0.51
