Dual motor delivery estimates

Had my intro call with guide yesterday and specifically asked if changing my config (Sept 2021 reservation) to performance dual would change my Aug/Sept '23 delivery estimate. She sort of contradicted herself, implying that changing to dual AWD would push it out because those aren't being made yet, but that the perf dual would not change anything. I wasn't asking about dual AWD, and I can't change to it anyway...so I was left confused. I also asked when dual AWD would be added to my configurator and she implied it would be in the next month or so.

Interesting. I saw someone on Reddit did a factory tour last week and he swears he saw both dual motor R1T & R1S in production.

My R1T Max Pack with the mandatory dual motor setup is currently showing Jan-Mar 2024 delivery. We'll see how that holds up.

I had a first mile drive in a R1S a few weeks ago and asked about dual motor deliveries. The rep said dual motor R1S' were being delivered to the East coast and that the first coming to the West coast would be in October, that was at the South San Francisco service center.

Well as mentioned I waited til August to contact my guide again about delivery estimate getting missed (currently shows June/July for my R1S Dual Motor). He apologized saying he didnt realize I had switched my config to Dual Motor (something I did over a year ago when option became available). His comment was that R1S Dual Motors are not available yet, so I dont know if that means they havent started building or what, but I assumed if they were available, that would mean people are being matched regularly and they are getting built. So seems like they arent in production on R1S dual motors yet. Surprising since I had also I thought seen notes on Reddit of factory tours where people saw every configuration going down the lines. Will see if anything happens before the August Delivery Estimate update.

We should all get new delivery updates at the end of August (according to their email.) Dual Motors are definitely being built, but maybe just for R1T, which would make sense, because it seems like they're running low on R1T Quad orders. So, they might want to start getting into the dual motor backlog of R1T, where as for R1S, there is still a long quad motor backlog.

FWIW I saw a dual motor R1S on the bay bridge heading into San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. It had Illinois plates. I suppose they could have “deleted” the yellow accents, the brake calipers were also grey/silver. Couldn’t get them in the photo. Sorry.

I was a July 22 reservation and got my email a few days ago. Very excited!

Received email for Configuration confirmation yesterday and confirmed for dual Motor with silver exterior immediately. We are in East coast, have March 2022 reservation and had missed old pricing by days. Nevertheless, estimate was July-August 2023 delivery so let’s see how long they take now. Hopefully delivery over next 2 months. We have the binding agreement and filed extension for our taxes so if they deliver before Oct 15, I will be a happy camper.
