I brought my truck in this week for NVH issues, key fob proximity issues and a door panel that binds when exposed to direct sunlight. It was a much calmer day at the SC than my last visit, which happened during an EOQ delivery rush. The service team has not yet begun temporary relocation to Normal to work on the factory floor, so I had really speedy service (5/17 - 5/19).
The team addressed persistent rattles coming from my dash, which was something that always bugged me in my former Tesla S.
They examined the vehicle's Bluetooth sensor array to determine why my vehicle would sometimes fail to lock when I walked away, and more commonly lock while I was standing right next to it. The vehicle also commonly failed to recognize multiple button presses to lock or unlock. I don't use PaaK, and was surprised to learn that the key fob uses Bluetooth instead of RF. Bluetooth is crap, so that explains a lot. The SC couldn't determine the problem, so they just gave me a new battery for my key fob just in case. PSA: the feature to lock automatically is simply not reliable for security, do not count on it to work. This is a Rivian problem, not a SC deficiency.
The team repaired my front passenger door that was rubbing and binding when exposed to direct sunlight. It would make a loud popping sound when opening and closing, which was chipping away at the paint. By touch you could feel that the door panel was protruding by a couple mm more at the binding point than the rest of the panel. The SC corrected this problem and fixed the chipped paint. Others have reported this same problem - here's one example: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/driver-side-door-rubbing-causing-paint-issues.7015/
Last, I got an unexpected fix to my half shafts which I've never had a problem with. I did not receive advanced notice about their campaign to fix the clips that prevent the half shaft from coming loose. However I had told the team that I'm moving far, far away from any existing service centers, so they performed this work proactively. Here's a thread with others discussing the same issue: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...gn-halfshaft-issue-on-2022-r1s-and-r1t.14291/
Overall, excellent work by the Bellevue Service Center.
