At the end of the latest OOS Bits video they mention that the included front plate holder blocks part of the front camera. WTF?? Can anyone confirm? In WA, so will need a plate on the front, but I do have an after-market plate holder for my Tesla; I wonder if that would fit (doubtful I guess).

@RivianTrackr Jose? Any clarification to your comment about that plate bracket?

Prior to delivery you will be asked if you want the plate mount installed or not. That is your opportunity to opt-out, if this is a big deal to you. Then you will be asked to sign a waiver stating that you made decision to opt-out and you absolve Rivian of any responsibility tied to it. Once you take delivery you could then purchase (or make) non-factory solutions that either mount to a tow hook or elsewhere.

There are at least two aftermarket options. Snapplate is the one I’d recommend between the two. More options on the way. For example, a friend is close to finalizing a tow hook mounted option and plans to make it open source (combo of basic items from hardware store plus 3D printing). https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/bAZL3c8LnS

Good to know. I also just saw another thread here about an after-market mount from SnapPlate.

Added more info above and even if the factory one does “block” at all, you’d only see a hint of it. Not a big deal. You gotta be a bit more critical with influencer content. It’s in their interest to create controversy and generate clicks. Especially long winded ones like OOS… formulated specifically to game platform algorithms to get paid.

Found this. OOS may be posting old info as the Riviantrackr car doesn't have a front license plate attached for Florida:
6/22 UPDATE:
Rivian has pushed a software update that significantly changed the camera view on the R2. Both the factory mount and the SnapPlate no longer show on the front view at all and they both show similarly on the 360 camera, but only in the high position. In the center or low positions, it doesn't show at all.

On the R1 the factory front plate mount doesn't really block all that much of the camera view - maybe about 5-10% of it, and it's at the bottom so it's not that big of a deal. I'm not sure about R2, but it seems like it's something that has been worked or or outright resolved based on some of the comments already in this thread.

My R1S is a little obstructed but not much. I am having the R2 bracket put on tomorrow, I’ll find out if the R2 does or not then.

Follow up, had the front license plate bracket installed this morning.

The front camera view is not obstructed at all. The Birds Eye view has a slight shadow on the front bumper but much less than the R1S and does not impact the function at all.
