I am discussing PPF and ceramic coating with the detail shop. They offer a discount on window film/tint at the same time. The detail shop says that the factory windows in the rear and roof are dyed glass and do not have a heat or glare reduction factor. Is this true?
anyone who has lived with the R1S in a hot summer: thoughts about window coating on the roof? All windows?

The glass roof has superior UV and IR rejection, whereas the windshield and side/rear glass does not. I metered the front windows to reject roughly 14% of IR and rear to reject 19%. The roof was blocking nearly 75% IR.

If heat and glare reduction are important to you, I recommend going with a higher-tier ceramic window film from Llumar or 3M.

You can do whatever you want, but I never recommend tinting the glass roof, and instead recommend a removable (and substantially cheaper) panoramic roof shade from @BestEvMod(AOSK). Easily removable for colder months for when you can harness a little free heat from the sun.

If you'd like to educate yourself on all things window tinting, check out my post in a Tesla Model Y subreddit.

Roof should have UV. The part about the side/rear windows is true.
