A word of caution when letting someone rotate your tires or pull the spare from the R1T. I had discount to a 5 tire rotation recently on my truck, and they reinstalled the metal rod for the spare... backwards/upside down. So the end with a hex head was installed into the truck and there wasn't anything but the threads to try and loosen it basically. Had to use a pair of vice grips on the tip of the rod to get it out.

I use the 25" lift floor jacks on the drivers front and the passenger rear and the two flat top jack stands on the other two positions with our pucks. The two floor jacks lift the entire vehicle off the ground.
Hey, Mark. Did my first rotation a couple weeks ago using the same HF Daytona 3 ton floor jacks you use. As you have suggested, I put one on the front driver's side and one on the rear passenger's side. For some reason, I couldn't get the rear driver's side off the ground. I mean, I think it would have eventually if I had kept going, but my R1S was ridiculously high at that point and started to seem sketchy. I ended up placing a bottle jack on the passenger's side rear to "help" it up a little. That worked, but I really wanted to get it all the way off the ground with just the two floor jacks and use the jack stands on the other corners. How much of that 24+ lift range do you use with the floor jacks?

If you happen to have some spare hex nuts laying around, next time throw 2 on there, lock them together and then use the bottom nut to free it.

That said, yeah, that stinks.

This is another reason I do my own rotations :)

I have to use nearly all of the floor jack range to get 1" of tire lift off the ground for the rear. The odd thing is, the lifting experience on the rear is not reproducible. What I mean by that is, if I use the Rivian procedure, one time it will be 1.5" off the ground and the next, it will be just far enough off to rotate the tire.

I've actually been able to use All Purpose High, then Tire Changer Mode for the best results, but YMMV on that.

Very good to know. I may try the All Purpose route when I get to 10k miles. The HF Daytona jacks do some real work and had my R1S pretty high. It was a little unsettling at first. ?

One more thing I wanted to note to get your thoughts. Before rotating, I checked the tread depth. Surprisingly, there wasn’t more wear on the front. It was even on each side, but the passenger’s side had 1/32 more wear than the driver's side. I’m wondering if there’s an alignment issue. Given the wear I was seeing, I just did a cross pattern swap, front passenger to rear driver and rear passenger to front driver. Shouldn’t be any issues with that, right?

The HF 3T 24"+ lift Floor Jack is a value proposition and a beast! I would give service a call and note the tread wear pattern. A single side tread pattern wear anomaly is peculiar. We drive mainly in All Purpose, as that seems to provide the best overall wear patterns. Rotation pattern to compensate for unusual passenger side wear is what Discount Tire does.

I just got mine rotated at Discount Tire for free. I have pucks but they also have the jack pucks in house. Took about 30 minutes and they seemed to know what to do.
DTown: which Discount Tire location in Denver did you use? I'd love to go to one with experience messing with your truck, before they get their hands on my R1S...

Good to know... My "Tarkus" is three weeks old yesterday with 3.2k miles while drive testing here in PA. Will use the Discount Tires Tire plan I bought for $300 while I'm in Atlanta, GA after Labor Day & 5k miles+...

What is the tire rotation method on the R1T? Front to back on same side or criss cross?

First rotate here at local tire shop
I tried to get spare out and ready in advance but had trouble w my side of bed
built right racks …. Can be done w 4 hands but tech smiled at me and simply unscrewed the vertical all thread rod out and bingo ! I put some black tape on the top 2” to make it easier and obvious .
looks lik e all purpose mode and minimal blast off events might get 20-25k or more w the 5th wheel

That worked for me too!

I called to make an appointment with Discount Tire Company to have (4) 22’s rotated at about 8,100 miles. In the parking lot at the tire company, I set the ride height and tire change setting after the tire attendant accompanied me back to the truck to check the condition of the tires.

All in all, my appointment took 1- hour. But after they pulled the truck into the service bay, they knew what to do with the R1T, and it took about 30 minutes. Everything worked out well and the service was FREE.

I was wondering about doing my tire rotation in the future. Only have 1K miles and was going to wait till 5K. However, I am still uncertain of the best way. I was planning on using a hydraulic floor jack with a puck to raise the car up but then I was thinking of using jack stands. I was thinking I could place these under the control arms and raise one side or even the entire car up this way.

Has anyone done this?

If you can’t get the truck high enough, place a couple 2x6 next to each other and then another diagonally on top of those. Place your jack and puck on top of the boards. This will give you a level 3.5” riser for your jacks. Worked perfect for my recent rotation.
