With everything going on, my guess is that we will see an eventual update of the R1 once the GA factory is up and running as it will give more room to the Normal factory to do more with the R1 lines. The R1S is still relatively popular (keyword, relatively) and it would be silly to let it rot away the way of the Model X. It wouldn't take much to make it more competitive, and I'm sure Rivian knows that. My guess, probably minor updates (scroll wheels, perhaps) and updated colors for MY 2027 with next gen in 2028 MY to go along with new chips and lidar.

I'd be more worried about the R1T, though given all the shared parts with the S, that may stick around as well assuming the R2 (and eventual R3) gives the company the lift it needs.

If the R1 gets the updates from the R2 (second row legroom, haptic wheels, glove boxes, updated motors and a more refined suspension setup) - I'd probably get it over the R2. It is IMO the more good looking vehicle and it comes in Red Canyon!

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear that.

I think manufacturers had high hopes for LFP batteries due to their cost savings and longevity, but it sounds like it’s a bust. I’ve heard they’re terrible in the Winter, too. Slow to heat up in order to charge.

Is Ford really putting these in their new $30K EVs? Something tells me that’s not going to end well.
Well... Ford has more recalls than anyone in the industry so at least they are experienced. 🤣
