Were you preconditioning? The gen 1's run the motors in an inefficient manner on purpose to harvest the heat to warm the battery. This is expected behavior.
Inefficient on purpose u say, so adventurous

That’s not overheating. If any of your motors were to overheat, there will be a warning message and light on the driver’s display.

Orange indication is within normal operating range, per Rivian.
Orange..not red. My bad

That's orange, not red. The Gen1 quads do this when preconditioning the battery for fast charging...totally normal. Your battery was at 65F and it wants to be mid-70s to low 80s for best charging performance.
Both the driver and center screens also shut off shortly after that pic.... coming back on 1-2 minutes after. Also normal behavior ?

Did you actually get a overheating error? Or are you just reacting to the orange color; not red. If you're convinced there is something wrong, long press your name on the center display when it happens, to insert an incident flag in datalogs, then contact Support.
No error just reacting. Do hitting hazard lights not create Fata log anymore?

ah... I remember it well, the year was 2023 and casting video to our screens was just a twinkle in some software engineers eye when the new interface and motor temps became available. I can still hear the cries of "my motors are too hot!" and "my motors are too cold!" ...

The poor engineers at Rivian have to be kicking themselves daily for providing motor temp data to everyone on that screen (or at least providing color coding for temp ranges). It's a classic case of too much information
That was a good year, I remember it well

Are you on 2024.51.2? I had a lot of odd infotainment restarts on 2024.47.1, but haven't had one since 2024.51.2 came out.

I see similar temps often when preconditioning, I’d say it’s normal behavior.

I had same thing happen to me on my trip from Charlotte to Chicago. Both the high temperatures when it was preconditioning and a go dark screen a couple days later while it reset. Both are disturbing, but I've seen both before and everything was fine. I also had it happen on the way up after waking up to 20 degree temps and going straight to Tesla supercharger. Plugged in, went into store, came out 15 min later and barely charged but motors were super hot. Whenever one got over 285, it switched the flow to a "cooler" motor until the original one cooled below 285, and the cycle continued. I unplugged and then drove to a charger 30 miles away and let the driving heat up the battery and charged fine after that. Although alarming when it happens, seems to be part of the design.
