So while my G1T was in for service I had a DM G2 Max S as a loaner and here is my takeaway:

G1S vs G2S:

I also have a G1 QM S and the G2 is better in every way to the G1 with the exception of the acceleration and various modes. The ride quality was very impressive, and the HVAC system is much improved. The biggest negative is the sound system, absolute trash on the G2, this car had the upgraded system.

G1T vs G2S:

In no situation would I pick any S over T. The ride quality on the T is so superior even the G1 vs the G2. I would never choose an S over a T of any generation.

General comments:

The max pack range is impressive and noticeably a bit more efficient overall compared to the G1. The acceleration was also not as noticeable of a gap that I thought it would be. This G2 did not have acceleration boost.

Related to driving I did notice that the DM uses the front motor 90% of the time and would contribute to significant tire ware compared to the QM.

In summary compared to a G1S it is a solid update but compared to the T it's not even close no matter the generation.

I have heard that as well. I have read stories and posts and seen YouTube videos of people that traded their Gen1 R1T for a Gen2 R1T and they regretted it. They complain that the audio system sucks, the ride isn't as smooth. Most of them said they did it for the "new technology" in the G2 vs. the G1.

I love my R1T Gen1 Quad with Large battery and the audio is MIND BLOWING. I have the Meridian system. I would never trade it in for a new version.

Interesting perspective, I had a G2 for 10 days and felt it just didn’t match the comfort or road feel of my G1 Quad. I won’t be parting with my Launch Edition R1T until there’s a true generational leap in battery tech, fit and finish, and overall build quality—hopefully by the 2029 model year when my extended warranty ends.
