Although MyQ would be nice it is not as quick as RF Homelink and closing is a PITA! For safety purposes, when you close myq door with the app, the system beeps for about five seconds crazily to alert you that the door is about to close. Very annoying!
It would be annoying if it was the primary mechanism for opening/closing... But if you're using that feature remotely then it is a critical safety feature.

Internet is also not ideal for a garage remote in a vehicle. If you are no where around the house and accidentally push the button you can remotely open the door. If you do not have alerts setup you would not know it was opened.

That can easily happen if you have doors configured at more than one location.

It also would not work if the internet was down, like in a power outage where a garage door opener with battery backup still works with an RF signal.

A garage opener in a vehicle really should be RF controlled.

My guess is it is going to be and has been removed from this manual and will be included in the infotainment manual.

I am tracking the q4 etron for my wife and they recently also pulled all online references, or so I was told on the Audi forum, of homelink. Tesla also stopped last year including them by default in the model 3. This seems like a supply chain feature removal.

Haha - awesome first post. You have to put a deposit down and pre-order the spring. Will let you know through sparse email communication when it will be delivered and installed. Just go into the configurator and select your spring size.

*** Prices may or may not go up.

You can add homelink to any vehicle. They have aftermarket options, all is required is 12 volt power source.

If someone hasn't done it already by the time I get my truck I will do a write up on installing this.

I wonder if they'll leverage MyQ from Chamberlain garage door openers? Amazon already uses this for deliveries into customer garages. I have it myself. I just don't let Amazon have access to it.
I have a myQ for my garage. I found an online hack that allows me to control it via Alexa. It works from my home Alexa devices and it also works from Alexa in my R1T. So I just drive up and say "Alexa open Brian's door" and up it goes! Nice thing is, I can do this from anywheer, so I can do it as I drive into the neighborhood and it's open when I pull up to the house. Or if I forget to close it, I can close it from anywhere. Pretty cool!

Can you elaborate? Rivian Technician relayed Homelink hardware isn't in the truck today.
It's not HomeLink, but the original user manual had a reference to a programmable Chamberlain RF unit inside the truck. This was removed from later revisions, presumably due to the software not being ready yet. Rivian affirms "garage door opener" is still coming OTA without any specifics.

It still concerns me that the hardware reference was removed from the manual. I've been trying to get CS and my guide to confirm if the specific hardware mentioned in the first manual revision is in fact still present in the delivered trucks. They will not give me an answer.

That's odd, never heard of any RF units in vehicles other than Homelink. Especially when relating to Chamberlain/Liftmaster. With Chamberlain/Liftmaster, technically all they need is a MyQ integration, no hardware required.

Wait and see I guess..

Here's a link to the one that was referenced: https://usermanual.wiki/Chamberlain-Group-The/97572-5214301.pdf

This does not rely on MyQ, and thank God for that. MyQ is not universal and nowhere near as reliable as a traditional RF unit. It also doesn't work for gates.

I agree completely, I'd always prefer RF. I'm just saying the cheapest route to Chamberlain/Liftmaster integration is MyQ.

Thanks for the document. I see ARQ2 references to a mirror & button install they also show a MyQ screen integration.

ETA: Yes, MyQ gate control is available but pretty hardware specific. I was mixing Homelink & MyQ earlier which is the reason for the edit.

Homelink does work with gates though, at least works fine with Mighty Mule (mine). I'm just saying the cheapest route to Chamberlain/Liftmaster integration is MyQ.

I should say most community gates aren't going to provide any sort of MyQ integration, and if they did support it most community orgs probably wouldn't go to the trouble to implement it.

ARQ is more of a product line than one single product. The ARQ2 product line includes a module that can be integrated with the infotainment system. The link I included in my post is for the manual of the exact product number mentioned in the original user manual, and it specifically mentions touching the garage door icon on the infotainment screen.

Anxious to see which technology they will use.

This is all i got from my Guide:

"You're absolutely right on the Garage Door opener. We do have this planned for the future, but it is not an available feature currently."

I have an old non-networked Garage opener, so will add whatever technology adapter is needed. I've been wanting to do it so i can have Alexa open the doors inside my house anyway, so will tackle both with one tech...once i know which tech they use. Ugh.
