This shouldn't even be a question. Don't put animals in the gear tunnel. Put your kids in it.

That's ridiculous I would never even think about putting my kids in the gear tunnel.

I'd put my kid's friends in there.

Just watched part of Out of Spec's video (over an hour, too long to watch all of it), but, it is a trip with their dogs and......they just put the dogs in the back seat, no straps. Just another example that most, even those being most watched, do not strap down their dogs when travelling.

I have had my R1T for 2 years now. It has 22k miles on it and my German shepherd has 20k in the gear tunnel. Call it whatever you want but in my opinion it's the greatest thing ever. She goes everywhere I go and loves her mobile dog house! Just leave the armrest down and pet mode on. All the dirt and hair stays out of cabin. I did add some sea deck to the driver's side gt door for traction other than that we are all good.

Don’t do it. I had a surprise battery failure recently and the gear tunnel could not be opened even at the service center for days! My son left his backpack in there and I couldn’t get it back until I finally picked up my car with a new battery pack. The SC guy tried to grab it thru the cabin pass thru but it was stuck for some reason. There is no external, manual release mechanism so it is fully dependent on functioning electronics.
