lol. personally, I would rather have the fully 180* degree folding tailgate or adjustable glass roof. Yeah, it would be nice to have the self-driving they claimed in the beginning, but no question I would use other options more.

All of the missing things would have been "nice to have"s. The firmly-fixed roof is the most disappointing. My spouse prefers to have an opening roof. Even the manual "use an Allen wrench to remove it and stow it in the bed" would have been acceptable. (Assuming a proper storage system was available.)

If there is no first party equipment then it is a nonexistent feature. Tesla has bidirectional charging on all models too if you use that logic

My cell phone advertises that it supports Qi wireless charging at 40W. But the manufacturer does not make a Qi charging puck that does 40W. Does that mean this is a nonexistent feature?

Many EV makers don't actually make their own EVSEs. Does that mean those vehicles aren't capable of charging? Before RAN launched, was DC charging "nonexistent" to Rivian owners?

These bidirectional chargers use a trick to make the car release power which is not an official method. I'm pretty sure they just spoof being a CCS charger and then just pull power instead of providing it.

That is literally the exact method that CCS says to use. Rivian even said that R1's bidirectional support is DC, requiring an off board inverter - exactly what the third party systems do.

It's the R2-specific AC bidirectional that requires more work (the adapter.)

I can't speak to why Rivian hasn't released the first-party one - maybe the switch to NACS has them having to redesign it, and they didn't want to release one that only works on CCS vehicles.

But the feature exists and is usable today.
