how do you know its defective? I tried 2 key fobs and its not working... I have a 3rd one but not sure I want to even try it... If 2 doesn't work.. it's gotta be the car.
I don’t but mobile service told me which now i think was bogus information. I bought another key fob and it’s still the same pairing issue. It appears like the vehicle itself has an issue adding the key to my vehicle profile.

Definitely not the case Mobile service was here I was the first person supposedly in the country that they troubleshooted this with and fixed it and from what he said when he was here they were immediately like 16 replies from other techs around the country that used the fix for the fob so not sure who said that but it was something that had to be changed in the cloud. The person my mobile person was on the phone with was supposedly the guy that heads up all keys phone app s fobs etc.

My key FOB finally paired with my R1S.

The issue was that I already had 4 key cards paired with my vehicle and that has prevented a key fob from being added. So i disabled one key card, re-added the key fob and voila!!!

Anyone else have a lot of play/rattle in the carabiner hook on their gen2 fob?

I'm not sure if mine is a bad one, or if they are all like this (please excuse the low quality and toddler!):

R1S on order
I had the Same key fob problem as others. Showed in app but not recognized by my R1S. Finally had mobile service come out to look at it. After a few minutes researching back in his truck he had me just remove my phone key from the app. The fob showed up immediately after that.

What Norivian said also worked for me:
  • I had 4 key cards paired (+ 3 phones). All 4 key cards worked correctly and showed up in the App, though only 2 showed up in the vehicle settings.
  • I tried many times, and couldn't get the key fob to pair correctly. It would show as paired in the app, but wouldn't show up in the vehicle, light on the fob kept blinking, and it didn't actually work.
  • After I read Norivian's post, I deactivated one of my four key cards, then was able to successfully activate the fob (it did initially give a message in the vehicle that it needed to communicate with the fob to complete pairing, but after a few minutes this resolved). The fob works properly.
  • I then tried to re-activate the card I de-activated. In the app it appears re-activated, but it doesn't show up in the vehicle and doesn't work. This makes me think I've hit a limit on number of keys or something like that (though 7 is an odd number to choose as the max).

Sorry to bump - but is this normal for a gen2 fob?

I haven’t tried reactivating; thanks for sharing that info.

I heard back from Service: apparently there is a maximum of 4 NFC keys. This includes both key cards and also fobs, since the fobs use a combo of NFC and Bluetooth (phones don’t count against the total). This is why I was unable to pair my fob until I deactivated a key card. No workaround, apparently.
