Howdy ya'll!
Just picked up my R1S, although I've been an early reservation holder and driven them several times.
For EVs I've owned an iPace, Taycan 4S, i4 M50, and most recently a Taycan Turbo S. Thought I'd give some first impressions.
The Good
Nice build quality. Generally well assembled, no rattles.
Huge cool factor. Exterior & interior both have a ton of character.
Nice interior quality, better than expected
Drives well. They really ironed out the R1S bugs. The first two I drove were sort of monstrosities compared to the R1Ts I had driven. No issues with this one.
Nice camera quality.
So much room, jeez.
The Bad
Not a big fan of the infotainment, simply hate not having Android Auto. The Nav is terrible.
The seats look cool but the shoulder gap destroys my back. Would likely be perfectly fine seats without that but going to have to use a pillow.
Why is reversing so clunky? Maybe this will ease up or I'll get used to it, but it's super sketchy backing up right now. Not smooth at all. I also get weird accelerator rattle when reversing.
That's probably what stands out the most so far, will update as I drive more.
I got 166 miles of range on 49% of the battery with highway driving, although fairly slow today with around 65 avg speed, in 60 degree weather with light rain. About what I expected, obviously well below what Rivian rates it.
Nice car! Cool factor is very high, glad they got the R1S sorted as I was super disappointed in the early models I drove.
