Forgive me if this has been asked/answered previously...

I've only had my Gen2 R1S TM for 2.5mos. As configured my vehicle should get estimated 371mi. according to Rivian's own configurator. I've only charged at home w/the Rivian charger & the 2x I've charged to 100% the vehicle tops out at 356mi of range. I've just crossed 1100mi & avg. efficiency of 2.4mi/kWh & always in All-Purpose mode.

Now I'm a realist, & know under real world driving conditions (& Dallas-Fort Worth traffic) I'm never actually going to get 371mi on a single charge. But shouldn't the vehicle, when charged to 100%, at least show 371mi as the estimated range available? Am I making too big of an issue out of this or should I be concerned?

As others have mentioned the 371 is a blend of the AP and conserve range. You need it in conserve to crack 350 but it will do so if you use conserve and keep it under 80.

I should correct myself: I've since learned it’s a blend of sport and conserve - however in the epa test cycle sport and AP provide almost the exact same result, and the paperwork submitted to the epa was for AP and conserve, while the blended value to fueleconomy.org and the Monroney label was based of sport and conserve. All I can say is: what a mess, the whole system needs reworked to bring some accountability and transparency - but fat chance of that happening with so many competing and diametrically opposed agendas involved.

It’s all about driving style, I’ve gone 356 miles in my quad/large pack R1T in conserve even though it shows 314 miles at 100% (EPA is 321). What hurts you in DFW is all the freeways/tolls, you will never see the EPA numbers driving 75-80 with the AC blasting 😕 Cooler months, keep it to 65 and you can definitely get that 371+

Agreed. There needs to be a universal standard for efficiency ratings in EVs, like there is in ICE vehicles. Then again, Dieselgate proves that those still get gamed and messed with, too.

Wife gets nervous anytime over 70, so doubt I'll hit 80mph much :)

What does it show in conserve mode?
The range estimates are just a fixed multiplier for a drive mode vs the current and current max accessible battery capacity. The ‘based on driving history’ verbiage refers to a feature yet to be implemented (I have this in writing from Rivian).

Here’s our trimax currently (above around 50f ambient it will display the ‘epa’ numbers, ie 346 for AP, 395 for conserve, this photo was taken with the battery at 38f):

I think you just answered the question - if it shows higher numbers above 50 degrees ambient, it's actually doing something smart (compared to earlier SW which was basically guess + maybe some driving history) and taking into account battery temp management energy consumption.

Very cool to learn, regardless. Mine (dual perf max) shows pretty much "420" for AP all the time, regardless of temps. But I just got it in Sept and it hasn't really gotten below 40 degrees here yet.

Yeah, I'm surrounded by tolled roads. Traffic is predominately stop & go, even on weekends when I do majority of my driving. My wife gets really nervous over 70mph, so unless we're roadtripping & she's asleep I won't be driving 75-80:(

Then you should be good. Ever since I got my wife an M car, she's been a lot more tolerant of my driving fast.
