Gen2 retrofit with Qi2 charging pad - does not work

I believe this is unrelated to the charging pad. I have sold about 15 of these to g2 owners, I'm sure many have 2025 model vehicles and not a single one has reported an issue. Theres a chance the pad itself is bad I guess and injecting crap into the can network but thats an easy thing to test by simply unplugging it. The newer charging pad takes literally 2 seconds to pop up and unplug.

They work great in the g1 too with the wiring adapter I made too!

Can you sell one to a ‘23 Gen 1 R1S owner?

I was told by Rivian the charging pad was not compatible with my 2 month old 2026. My OEM Upgrades Plus charging pad will be here Thursday. We will see if Rivian is right or wrong.

Looks like Rivian was wrong. Installed the pad today. Works! Recognizes the Google Wallet key and charges fine. I'll pay attention to anomalous behaviors for the next few days. Thanks @breeves002 for the charging pad!

Pics are of a Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Literally takes 30 seconds to install. Looking forward to my phone "actually" staying put and charging.

OEMs love to say this stuff. I’ve been upgrading Fords with newer hardware for almost a decade and I’ve never had a dealer say anything other than “that’s not possible and it won’t work”. I love proving them wrong

Enjoy the charger! I’m surprised Rivian hasn’t offered an official retrofit yet. Incredible profit margins on this item for them I’m sure.

If it’s your local SC who told you that… that’s them say “we don’t want to deal with it, not worth a tech’s time”. There is another thread from a member whose SC retrofitted it to their MY25 soon after the new pad became public knowledge. No reason for the pad to be incompatible as it was specifically made to be implemented in new R1 production. It may even be the same pad in R2.

FYI another thread/post, gen2 member said their SC installed software update along with retrofit. Unclear if that is related, or necessarily and why.

Any kind of software update doesn't appear necessary. I think the service advisor probably didn't know what they were talking about. All G2 owners that have upgraded so far seem to say it just works 100% including the NFC for key card/phone keys. Not sure what they would update.
