Just wanted to drop a quick note thanking everyone for making Rivian Forums a great place to go for all things Rivian. It has been indispensable to me during my brief R1S ownership.

Today, I bid farewell to my R1S and moved into a 2024 BMW iX. This is only goodbye for now, as I look forward to taking delivery of an R2 when they become available. I will definitely keep lurking and following this forum.

In the meantime, all the best to everyone. Enjoy your Rivians in good health!

Curious why the switch?
The R1S was just too big for me. It’s just myself and my wife and we simply didn’t need the space and size. To be honest I got it, because I really wanted a Rivian and I’m glad I experienced it.

I immediately put a deposit down in an R2 when they became available to reserve. To be honest the R3 would be ideal for us.

in the interim the iX is a good fit and BMW has some great lease incentives right now. Definitely sad to see the Rivian go, but then again I have the R2 to look forward to.

if you don't mind telling, what did you get for your R1S and how many miles did it have?

Get a dog or two and VOLA! the space and size issue is resolved. . . . . But seriously good luck and hoping the R2 and/or R3 make it to the market. Hopefully sooner rather than later and would not be surprised to see R3 roll out at the same time as R2 or soon after. Heck maybe the R3 will come out before R2 based on the feedback.

Best wishes with the iX @TheRivian !

A friend got one about a month ago and loves it, he also got killer incentives from BMW and the local dealer when he ordered it back in Jan.

I'd be curious to read your review of the ix compared to the R1S after you own it for a while as my main complaint with the S is size.

A buddy of mine traded his failing Lyric in for the iX and loves it.

My first thought, when looking inside, was the iX has sooooo many buttons and knobs.?

My first thought when looking inside was that it's super long/low profile screen would be great for watching those ultra-wide screen CinemaScope movies they made in the 50's and 60's.

I can't get past the styling of the front of the IX - its hideous. BMW has completely lost its way from a design standpoint.

I got to look at it again. I’ve only seen the sides and back. He mentioned something about a thick trim on all models that looks out of place except in the darkest of paint colors.

Asked my wife to consider an iX before buying our second R1S to replace her Model 3 Performance but she could not get over the gopher teeth fake grill. She actually used your same words, "It's hideous. No!"
