I have had my R1S for a few weeks now and am absolutely loving it. Unfortunately, it was one of the newer (post Feb) versions with the Dash 12v removed.

I already successfully hard-wired my radar detector into the rearview mirror to get around the lack of the dash 12v. Thanks to those on this forum for great tips on how to successfully to that!

The only other thing I want to add is a USB to power my MagSafe iPhone bracket. I am considering splicing into the center console charger (using T-clips) and running the cable under the floor console up the dash, and to my charger. I know this is ambitious, but I have done a ton of similar wiring in my day. My question out to the forum is has anyone here tried to open remove/disassemble any of the center console or floor console yet? Just wondering if there are any special tricks, precautions, etc for unscrewing/removing the various trim pieces. It seems like all the screws are extremely well hidden (even under the removable mat sections).

Thanks in advance for your help!

Apologies for the shill, but you may want to consider this instead of a bunch of disassembly: https://opensourceev.com/products/scosche-odb-ii-to-usb-adapter

There are photos that I posted on page 1 of the following thread, along with more on page 4: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/new-riviparts-left-side-phone-mount.12039

You can also use coupon code Scosche5 for $5 off.
Thanks so much Rob! This looks WAY easier than what I was considering. I have that mount that you posted (2nd link). I just need to power the MagSafe now. This looks like it will fit the bill just right. I never would have considered plugging it into the OBD2 port!

I love this forum... so many great tips. MUCH appreciated!

@RWerksman - I tried this from my radar detector and felt that USB port was heating up over time, have you heard it from others?

If you need a certain picture of the back of the dash, I can help. I have a complete dash minus the upper dash pad.

Can you post or DM me some pics of the dash? I’m looking at feasibility of running a CarPlay head with rear backup camera wire to the passenger a-pillar, then along the roof molding to the back.

Here's a series of photos of someone that removed that lower trim to install a molle panel.

Would still love some insight into existing harnesses to tap into so I can purchase everything in advance and not have the disassembled dash off for too long.
