I ended up in getting one of the Loadd Sheett (long version )

https://loadd.co/collections/bed-extenders

Works great for keeping 12ft secure; also works great for things like plywood / drywall / server racks, whatever you want to haul that's too long.

I recommend adding on the flag option as well; make it super convenient.

and comically on their page if you look at the images you'll see a rivian with 12' lumber:

Use the front and rear tow hooks and strap it to the belly.

I can’t tell if you’re joking. But I bet that would work great on the R1. Given there are no moving parts down there and the truck is longer in length than the lumber. 🤔

But given that there are no rear tow hooks, it might be problematic...

I have this (Loadd bend extender) as well. Haven't hauled 12' lumber but have used for plywood, hardwood flooring and 8' lumber. Works well.

Seems like a genius idea. Kinda pricey but might pick one up. I’m looking to haul 16’ 2x6 and I doubt this would work for that though.

I knew from the beginning I would need it. I haul 10ft material weekly for work. I just got creative and retro mod a rack on the back. I have Had it this way for 2 years now

We're building a fence this weekend and I was going to rent a 5x8 trailer from Home Depot for $60, then I realized delivery is only $90... Easy choice.

Would keeping the tailgate Closed be safer? I feel there is a chance the lumbers to tip

For some reason I cannot figure out, my Home Depot will not deliver lumber to my home. I've called them and they've been useless in answering me. I would do that in a heartbeat. 16' Lumber is not easy to haul regardless of your truck.

What's your zip code? I'm happy to give it a go, they don't call me Chief of Logistics for nothing 🫡

Lay it flat, strap it down, and put a flag on it. Yep, those are 12 ft. 2x4's

I use this hitch mount rack combined with the roof crossbars, but it can also be inverted as a bed extender. Very versatile, and you can't beat the price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BNBRDSSG/

I like this a lot. Is this the exact one you have? How's the overall quality? Seem brilliant and looks like it won't take up much room when not being used.
