But given that there are no rear tow hooks, it might be problematic...I can’t tell if you’re joking. But I bet that would work great on the R1. Given there are no moving parts down there and the truck is longer in length than the lumber.
Seems like a genius idea. Kinda pricey but might pick one up. I’m looking to haul 16’ 2x6 and I doubt this would work for that though.I ended up in getting one of the Loadd Sheett (long version )

Works great for keeping 12ft secure; also works great for things like plywood / drywall / server racks, whatever you want to haul that's too long.
I recommend adding on the flag option as well; make it super convenient.

Would keeping the tailgate Closed be safer? I feel there is a chance the lumbers to tipI ended up in getting one of the Loadd Sheett (long version )

For some reason I cannot figure out, my Home Depot will not deliver lumber to my home. I've called them and they've been useless in answering me. I would do that in a heartbeat. 16' Lumber is not easy to haul regardless of your truck. We're building a fence this weekend and I was going to rent a 5x8 trailer from Home Depot for $60, then I realized delivery is only $90... Easy choice.
What's your zip code? I'm happy to give it a go, they don't call me Chief of Logistics for nothing 🫡For some reason I cannot figure out, my Home Depot will not deliver lumber to my home. Lay it flat, strap it down, and put a flag on it. Yep, those are 12 ft. 2x4'sI have the roof racks but they seem rather useless for practical purposes. Has anyone figured out how to haul 12’ lumber with the R1T? What’s your hack for securing things to the racks?
I use this hitch mount rack combined with the roof crossbars, but it can also be inverted as a bed extender. Very versatile, and you can't beat the price. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BNBRDSSG/I have the roof racks but they seem rather useless for practical purposes. I like this a lot. Is this the exact one you have? How's the overall quality? Seem brilliant and looks like it won't take up much room when not being used.I use this hitch mount rack combined with the roof crossbars, but it can also be inverted as a bed extender.
