So after watching the original video my first question was how would other vehicles do on that course because I don’t know everything about every car on every course like 99% of posters apparently.
Then like the sun coming out on a rainy day, your post appeared and wiped away my ignorance. I am now one step closer to being like those 99%. No doubt in my mind, the CT did not look impressive there.
now if someone can explain why I should be rooting against the CT as I have no clue why….
An old Jeep CJ with physical lockers does better than either R1T or Cybertruck.

The humor on the Cybertruck is that there are sooo many apologists about the Cybertruck (and Tesla) out there, on how superior they are to everything and everyone.

Welp, trash collection in the Moab backcountry is gonna be much more effective with a bunch of Dumpster Trucks strewn all over.

Erp, on second thought they should just park ’em at the trailheads, otherwise the Dumpster Truck becomes the permanent trash.

Now we all know who the Tesla troll is on here! You MFer!!!
Okay kid....

The video shows it completing the obstacle. How did it fail? Struggle, sure. I can attribute it to the tires and even the driver. Fail it did not as it completed the obstacle.

I guess truth = troll in the progressive age of make-believe.

Kid? I guess of 44 years old is a kid to you then sure, I’m a kid. My R1T on the stock 21” All-Season tires would roll up that hill no problem and the CT just can’t do it that easy. I didn’t say it failed. You have so many people telling you how stupid your comment was that you can’t keep track of who said what anymore. The Cybertruck on the whole is a FAIL. Ugly, overpriced, overpromised and underdelivered. And you clearly don’t know tires. The CT has All-Terrain tires not that different in tread pattern from the stock Rivian 20” Pirellis ALL-TERRAIN tires. We can’t all know everything.

The one person who planned to off-road his Cybertruck must be rethinking his life choices.

When you respond in such a manner as you did then I will call it as I see it.

No it wouldn't. By all means try it out and prove me wrong. I can show you videos of R1Ts struggling and ones where they don't. I can't recall a video with an R1T making it up on 21s.

I didn’t say it failed.
I stated:
Except it didn't fail and it had street tires...
To which you replied:
Now we all know who the Tesla troll is on here!
Thus you got my response. How else should I have taken your simple-worded message? Calling me a troll for saying the CT didn't fail the obstacle; but now you want to act coy and pretend like you meant something else? Sure kid.

You have so many people telling you how stupid your comment was that you can’t keep track of who said what anymore.
There has been a discussion about the tires, sure.

And you clearly don’t know tires. The CT has All-Terrain tires not that different in tread pattern from the stock Rivian 20” Pirellis ALL-TERRAIN tires. We can’t all know everything.
I still disagree, what that CT has appears to be at best AS tires. They do not look like AT tires to me. Could I be wrong, sure, why not? Until I see the specific tire on the truck and read the model number to look it up, I will contend that the tires are not AT.

Like many off-road vehicles, they will never get any dirt between their toes. Eventually, we will see an R1T with a snorkel.

Then you and the community are wrong. I have then 20" AT on my Rivian and was the Cybertruck is rocking are not in the same league as Rivian's tires.

These are the AT tires for the Cybertruck, that is NOT what is in the video.
Tesla-Cybertruck-wheel.jpg
Those are Goodyear MTR kevlar tires with a custom sidewall and not an AT. Just to clarify....

Wow man you clearly have more free time than me. Good luck with your shitty opinions and incorrect assumptions. It must be hard being a know it all.

I'm no fan of the CT. But, people are misinterpreting this footage. If anyone can find early development footage of the R1T—and even those posted by owners of early deliveries—you would see exactly the same struggle. It's just a development process both (and all other) companies go through as they test and calibrate parameters of the traction management software.

Yes, this makes for juicy gossip (i.e. clickbait). But keep in mind this is not the final delivered product. It's too early to pass judgement on off-road capability. And even once delivered to customers, remember, BEVs are in constant state of development and can be updated/improved upon, indefinitely, via OTAs. As Rivian owners, you should know this already.

This video has definitely been making the rounds on social media ?
Looks to me like the driver was on team orders to not bash the prototype up what seems to be a fairly easy challenge. Sh*t’d be flying off..not a good look. I still think Elon is punking us all

Spent way too long on this, but I agree , I think the truck in the video is rocking Goodyear Wrangler Territory MTs and the show car is just very worn down versions of those.

I've used those tires in the past. They are pretty good off road, but I would say below average in the snow we get here in CO. I found the treads would easily get packed full of snow, resulting in you rolling around on 4 round blocks of ice/ snow. I would regularly slide at stop signs, etc... I replaced them after a year because I didn't feel safe on them.

Bodes well for everyone standing nearby as the Axeblade Aztec comes sliding through the crosswalk...

(in fairness I'm struggling to find a happy winter setup myself)

The vehicle I had those tires on was much lighter than a Rivian or CT, but it was bad enough I wouldn't buy them again. Every winter stoplight had a pucker factor of 10 that year.

This is my first winter with my Rivian so I might be in the same boat you are. I'll give the Pirellis a chance though.
