I’ve always kept this feature off but was watching a video yesterday and someone mentioned the hotspot was their favorite feature of their R1. Is everyone running their Hot spot on at all times and connected to their phone? I get if you don’t have service or connecting to laptops/iPads but what else is everyone using their hot spot for?

Different service provider than my cell phone, so occasionally we're somewhere cell service doesn't work but the hotspot does. Wifi calling and such will still work.

Same here I have Verizon and believe the hot spot is ATT?

so do you just keep it on all the time, and connected to your phone as a favorite?

I only flip it on when needed. Works well for tablets and such that don't have a dataplan. Especially easy to turn on now since you don't need to dig through the menu.

Does leaving hotspot on increase vampire drain? Does it keep the truck awake for a longer period when no one is in the vehicle?

I set the Rivian hotspot up with the same SSID and password as my home wifi, so any time we're on a longer trip or sitting at a ferry terminal, laptops etc seamlessly transition to the vehicle. AT&T also has roaming agreements with Bell, Rogers and Telus up here, so connectivity on the vehicles end is typically more stable than our phones.

I'll likely keep the premium connectivity beyond the complimentary phase.

I don't think it prevents the vehicle from sleeping, and while I haven't tested it, I would assume the hotspot goes dormant during that time.

Hotspot used to turn off with vehicle sleep. Not sure if that has been changed, but you can keep it on with the camp mode "stay on" setting that prevents vehicle sleep. Otherwise I'm pretty sure you get 30 minutes after the doors close.

My hotspot stays active and my phone is always connected to it.

Phone is VZW and hotspot is ATT so between the two coverage is always there. I also do on occasion have wifi only phones in the truck so it's just always nice to have the hotspot active if anything needs it.

I used it once to tailgate. Turned it on, connected an Apple TV and streamed hockey. Worked flawlessly (with a later gen Apple TV) except the truck would sleep and the hotspot would disconnect.

Use it with kids on short road trips so far or rare occasion when my verizon connectivity isn't there. though usually the opposite.
