How many had to replace 12v shortly after first warning?

If you received a low 12v warning, did you eventually have to replace your 12v battery

Welp, got my first 12v warning light. Bad part was that I was on a road trip in a pretty remote area and no cell service. Turtle mode came on, several lights, four wheel drive disabled, etc. I did a hard reset and everything Powered back up with no issues. I was at maybe a 70% charge and have about 6k miles now. It’s a later Gen1 with only one battery.

Continued the road trip for another 600 miles or so with no issues aside from a “front camera not functioning” warning even though it was, which went away after the next park.

Had me in a panic for a while though. This was my first longer road trip in the R1S and the last thing I needed was a tow to ruin the vacation of the long weekend.

So, a few questions.…
1. Should I contact service to report it or do you think it was a fluke?
2. How many of you all had a failure shortly after you received a warning and did you get one warning or multiples?

Because I read about this so much, I’m wondering if I should switch to a lithium battery.

Yes. Also, make sure u press your profile name until u see a message that it saved your log anytime u see some warning pop up. This will help troubleshoot the problem by support.

I had 3 or 4 warnings before it was replaced. It wasn't worth the hassle. Schedule the replacement ASAP.

How long between warnings would you say? Was it shortly after or was this over a longer span?
It was fairly random. Would be fine for a month or so, then pop up again. Replacing it also appeared to solve several other issues that I cannot recall. The only thing is cost me was time to get it in the repair shop.

8 months after delivery, my R2S 12V failed with ZERO warning and couldn't be jumped.

It won't heal itself. Make SC appointment immediately.

I mentioned this to service. They said they would pull the logs of the vehicle that day and see if it‘s something that needs addressing. They asked if I had a charger at home for mobile service so I’m guessing that is needed for a replacement? We’ll see what happens

If you got a 12v warning, definitely call Rivian. I think I got one before mine died last summer, but it cleared on its own. Hopefully the software updates have made the warning more persistent. I think I got the warning once and it cleared immediately, and then a week or two later mine died in my driveway (big battery at 70%). It took mobile service almost three weeks to get to me, fortunately I have another vehicle.

I reported my issue. I have had mine for about 18 months and they came to my house and replaced it for free. If I remember, they said it was a known issue for my 2022 R1T.

Curious how the guys with the lithium battery are holding up and if they have had any issues. It seems it's fundamentally a charging issue on the hardware/software end?
