Hey friends,

I'm lucky enough to have a pre-March reservation (ETA ~May 2023) but not lucky enough to have kept my job ?

Dropping $74k on a truck seems like a rather bad idea, yeah? So I'm looking to delay it -- but they've now reached out to me via email and phone about confirming my configuration. Unclear if that means it's sooner than May or what. Either way, it's too soon.

If I tell them I want to delay will they threaten to cancel my discounted price? Should I instead just change my configuration to a Max battery and not say anything at all?

Appreciate any insights! Thanks

No, they have a status called "CUSTOMER NOT READY" so it's fine. Maybe no need to mention the job IMO, just say personal reasons or whatever.

I thought about delaying mine as well and was planning to just change my configuration to max pack (and then back when I was ready) - that'll certainly slow things down. However, if customer not ready is available w/o jeopardizing your pricing, that would be an easy solution.

Aww man. Sorry about the job. Once you confirm it’s hard to say how long it might be. Some people get there confirm email and are immediately sent the 8 step email. Others confirm and still wait a couple months.

I don’t have any inside info, but I keep warning anyone who will listen that Rivian is under no obligation to honor those pre 3/1 prices for any specific amount of time. So in my opinion it’s safer to use it as soon as possible.

Hope you find a new job ASAP!

Just tell them you need to defer delivery, but confirm your configuration(if you have it nailed down). Seems simple enough.

I’m in a similar situation, at least as far as not being ready to take delivery. Originally, I configured an R1S, figuring I would not get it until late 2023, at best, and that was just fine with me. I recently changed my configuration to an R1T. While I have not heard from a guide, as yet, my webpage is asking me to confirm my configuration, with a possible February/March delivery. I have NOT confirmed it, as that time frame is not good for me. I would like to bump it out about 6 months. Just wondering what course of action to take or not. If I don’t confirm my config., come January, I’m wondering if my estimated delivery date will automatically reset later. Guess I will see.

I got a guide and was asked to confirm configuration for a Jan/Feb delivery timeline however I contacted my guide and I told him there isn't a snowball's chance in hell I'm buying an R1T without a power cover so I asked if I could delay until they get the redesign worked into production.

It was pretty low drama. My guide says that they could put my reservation on "hold" and I would keep pricing and my relative place in line.

Reach out to your guide. Tell them you aren't ready to accept delivery and would like to be in a hold status. They should be able to help you out.

This is very good to hear. Hope I have a similar experience. Thanks!
